Apple Seeds First Beta of macOS Big Sur 11.2 to Developers

Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming macOS Big Sur 11.2 update to developers for testing purposes, with the new beta coming two days launch of macOS Big Sur 11.1, the first major update to he operating system first launched in November.

Developers can download the ‌macOS Big Sur‌ 11.2 beta using the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences after installing the proper profile from the Apple Developer Center.

There's no word just yet on what's included in macOS Big Sur 11.2, but it likely includes performance improvements, security updates, and fixes for bugs that weren't able to be addressed in the release version of ‌macOS Big Sur‌. We'll update this article if we find anything new in the beta update.

Hopefully with a fix for display refresh rates and resolutions when using an external monitor. 11.1 has been terrible - Big Sur generally boots into a lower resolution and/or refresh rate on the external display ever since 11.1 was released (though there are reports of this issue cropping up in the betas) - was absolutely fine with 11.01. Running a MacBook Pro 16" here with a 27" BenQ monitor and USB-C connection, so nothing too exotic.

Build number is 20D5029f, no full installer yet, just a delta update.

But I can see that being a second point release the combos will start coming too, eg. someone on 11.0.1 jumping to 11.2, skipping 11.1 can do so via the combo.

No issues here, 16" MBP, 11.1, two 4K BenQ "Designer" PD3200U connected via CalDigit TS3+ Dock (1x DP 1x USB-C to HDMI). Displays Scaled to Larger text (2560x1440) both @ 60Hz.

There are plenty of web browsers other than Safari you can use.

Just to confirm. You had no problem with 11.0?

I'm still waiting with Catalina. I tried setting up second boot drive in preparation for Big Sur so I could go back and forth but got tired of having to type in my password and two-factor authentication that yes this was my computer, so am reluctant to move on until I'm very sure. I also don't like the blurring of borders and more burying of options.

MBP 16 and Dell S3220DGF here. Works fine with HDMI adapter but is absolutely broken with DisplayPort on 11.1. Worked fine on 11.0.1 but I can’t downgrade to it...

I have no idea what you are talking about. I can add tabs with the little plus thing

Works great for me. I’ve been on Big Sur in developer beta. Only complaint was it took google too long to update for backup and synch

Mac OS updates are becoming eye-candy updates rather than adding any productivity features. There are so many things that can be improved.
1. Contacts - Allow exporting to a .csv file 2. Allow Contacts to format phone numbers automatically if Country field is non-empty. 3. Allow printing envelopes with custom "from address" that user can set 4. Tons of Mail improvements - this is my pet peeve. Apple Mail is a toy, a joke. I could list a dozen productivity and feature improvements. Apple - if you are listening. Just look at the third party mail clients and see what they've done.

Please fix Safari, Big Sur damaged it for me. Way too slow dropping down the bookmarks menu, seems to have an issue drawing the icons. Also, some websites are just freezing on me, which has literally never happened before.
