Twitter has been working on some kind of subscription service since last summer, and Jane Manchun Wong, who often digs into new features coming in apps, has shared details on just what Twitter is exploring.

Twitter's subscription service could be called Twitter Blue, and at the current time, it's priced at $2.99 per month. There will be a "Collections" section that allows users to save and organize their favorite tweets to make them easier to find at a later date.

It will also include an "Undo Tweets" feature, which will give customers a short time to "Undo" a tweet that has a mistake before it's actually posted on the social network. The Tweet Undo period looks to be customizable, so users can set their preferred interval.

Users will also be able to select where the Undo Tweet feature will be applied, with options that include original tweets, replies, tweetstorms, and quote tweets.

Wong says that Twitter is working on a tiered subscription pricing model, so one tier could have more paid features than another.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said last July that Twitter would set a "really high bar" for when Twitter would ask customers to "pay for aspects of Twitter."

There is no word on when Twitter's subscription functionality could roll out, nor what it will cost when it launches. Pricing and feature set could change because the subscription option is still in testing.

Honestly, this is the nail in my Twitter coffin. These subscription things are killing me. I get the benefits for Twitter and that’s great for them but that’s a hard nope. Hopefully some people find it worthwhile. Best of luck everyone.

A big question is if Twitter will charge politicians for "Blue" features or just give them away. After all, TWTR doesn't have a great track record of applying its TOS and other rules to activists, celebrities, and politicians.

I’ll happily pay if Twitter makes these features available to third party apps as I much prefer using Tweetbot.

lol, a "very high bar" means undo feature and folders...features for users, while all of these companies spend hundreds of millions on ad targeting optimization, welcome to the 21st century cloud SAAS.

I don’t use Twitter enough or have any influence to justify needing or paying money for that functionality. For influencers, politicians and celebrities, it could be a huge benefit. But are there enough to make it generate good revenue, I think not.

Twitter, I mean Facebook, did threaten to charge us if we made the wrong App Tracking Transparency choice.

Don’t use Twitter beyond following a few. Not sure what would compel me to actually compose a tweet on it. Tweetbot for iPhone as actual Twitter kinda sucks.

Why would anyone want to pay to use Twitter… I don’t get the point of it when it’s free so definitely would subscribe to get better features (like an Undo button… what’s wrong with delete tweet and rewrite?)
You've answered your own question. People who get the point of it might think it's worth paying. People who don't, won't.
