'Argylle' Spy Movie Starring Henry Cavill and Dua Lipa Coming to Apple TV+

Apple has established a deal for the rights to "Argylle," an upcoming spy thriller from Matthew Vaughn, reports Deadline. A film package is nearing completion, and Apple is expected to pay around $200 million.

"Argylle" is based on the upcoming spy novel of the same name from author Ellie Conway. It follows the world's greatest spy in a globe-trotting adventure, and shooting is set to start later this year.

The upcoming film has a star-studded cast, with Henry Cavill set to star. It will also feature singer Dua Lipa along with John Cena, Bryce Dallas Howard, Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Rockwell, Catherine O'Hara, and Bryan Cranston.

Matthew Vaughn is known for directing films that include "Kingsman," "Kick-Ass," and "Stardust." In a statement, he said he was thrilled to work with Apple.

I'm thrilled to team with Apple and bring the most compelling spy thriller I've ever read to the only streaming service that can create a franchise of this scale and quality for global audiences to experience.

Apple has been working to secure the rights to multiple high-profile films to attract customers to Apple TV+. The company has also inked deals for "Killers of the Flower Moon" with Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio, "Emancipation" with Will Smith, "Bride" with Scarlet Johansson, "Snow Blind" with Jake Gyllenhaal, "Sharper" with Julianne Moore, and "Kitbag" with Joaquin Phoenix.

The "packaging" is nearing completion, which means the project development and assembling all the "Above the line" talent (actors, director, writer, producers, etc.). You do that in order to present the project to investors (in this case Apple, but when you don't have a company fronting the whole budget for international distribution, you look for distributors in a variety of countries and ancillary markets) and finance the production.

Apple has just been shopping, and picking up unreleased movies and shows. It’s been a decent strategy for them around the pandemic. I do think they need to attempt to purchase studios if they want to compete.

With how he was in Superman, I completely forgot how good was in the Witcher. Witcher 1 & 2 are the best out of those games, though…

This show actually sounds like it is in the James Bond style. With Cavill playing Bond. Which, for me, a massive Bond fan, this sounds incredible. Especially with that cast. Wowza.

I am being charged now, and cant justify it. 2 episodes per week for just 3 or 4 months per year is very little value compared to Disney, Netflix or HBO Max. Very, very, very non-competitive. Some months nothing new in their catalog. Everything is “upcoming”. Why not at least give us decent movies NOW every week or EVERY month, not just “bidding for some years later”, I am being charged NOW. It is the most pathetic steaming service. The Interface is slow, is Poor, the content is mediocre and overpriced. Shame on you Apple for charging us for this value added service. Pure greed.

It's called cancel and sign up when there are shows you want. It's your own decision to not do that. That's not greed at all. It's a fledgling new streaming service, with a focus on quality over quantity. I cancel Netflix between shows too, until they put one out that I want to see, like Stranger Things or Witcher.
