Good to know!
However I tested it in december and I realised I'm not a laptop person (as my main machine).
I'd still get lots of use from a laptop, but at this point I'm looking at a cheaper and lighter macbook air.
A model with the M2, 16GB of Ram and a mini-LED with no promotion (to cut costs) would be amazing to use in mobility for light work and chill on the couch watching films, as I have no TV.

Apple is finally catching up to demand for its latest 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, with wait times for both models in lower-end configurations substantially improving over the last month in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
So the M1 Pro configurations were arriving at the stores periodically all this time. M1 Max configuration orders are way longer now. So M1 Pro standard configuration is 2-3 weeks, while M1 Max is 8-9 weeks. Nothing to cheer about with that estimate.

I appreciate the pessimism, but I'm doubting the delay is tied only to Apple Silicon. Apple controls that SOC sourced from ONE supplier. Sure, the rest of a computer may come from other suppliers and any given part/piece could create some delays... but I'm betting it is not the SOC.

We'll see soon enough. Maybe the rumored MAR 8 event will roll out a single M2 Mac or even no Macs at all... but I'm betting differently, admittedly fueled by wishful thinking.

The Mac I want is only modestly more than the SOC in a box- no screen, no keyboard, no track pad, no premium speakers, no FaceTime camera, no battery, etc. So if it's not the SOC, it seems favorable that that Mac could roll out and have relatively timely deliveries.

If it IS the SOC, then place the order and wait, wait, wait... and expect bad news from Apple, if the shortage is going to keep them from shipping a target volume of stuff Apple buyers want to buy in the next quarter or two.

One of the forum members suggested a Intel Mac mini update which I thought was very plausible. That would sync perfectly with the iPad Air update and iPhone SE update. We’ll see. ;)

CDW as a vendor sucks for anything not Lenovo in North Amaerica. Stock of a macs is usually low and not their primary order.

I’m concerned production yields for M2 chip line will be impacted by all the M1 lineup.
Yeah...wouldn't have been my choice (and I'm not 100% positive that's who our vendor is, but I'm pretty sure it is), but they had me on a Windows Surface Book and are getting me a pretty highly spec'd MBP, so I'll deal with the delay. :)

It'll be worth the wait. I got the same config except opted for the 2TB hard drive mainly for photography. It's an incredible machine.
Awesome! My main use will be motion graphics with 4k video and a good amount of photography on the side. I really could use it now with all the video projects I have for a client, but I’ll have plenty of time with it going forward. So excited!

Last week I ordered a 16 M1 Max with 24c GPU, 32GB of ram, and 1TB hard drive. Would love for the shipping time to improve, but currently it’s showing April 14-27. Last Mac I owned was a 2010 17” MBP. I’m excited to get my hands on it and start working with it.
I ordered the exact same configuration on Jan 5th. Mine was showing Feb 28 to Mar 11 from day 1 and those dates never changed.

Man, you're going to hate it. Having to deal with that tiny 16" screen after the 17" will drive you nuts ;)

Glad I didn’t wait and just picked mine up at microcenter. It’s nice to support local businesses and get stuff instantly as well.

I put my order in for a 14-inch MBP a month ago. It's still not even processed yet. And i'm not scheduled to even receive until early April ?

Hopefully it's worth the wait. 64GB, M1 Max, 2TB SSD.
I got the 64GB max with 1tb and while the battery life isn’t as good as the 13” M1 I had last year, at least I’m not shredding the ssd with a 20gig page file any more. And the performance is much better on certain things.

Yes, I went and grabbed a 16” M1 Pro 1TB instead of waiting for the Max. The wait period was months and that was nowhere near a timeframe I could wait for a new computer. Seems to have been a great decision as this machine has handled everything I’ve thrown at it with ease.
I think the 16 with its larger thermal envelope goes a bit better even with on the M1 pro, from what I’ve seen on YouTube. One of the channels went as far as to say that the M1 pro on the 16 would be somewhat faster than the M1 max on a 14, due to superior cooling. And the 14 is an excellent machine even on base specs, so I can imagine that the 16 M1 pro would be super fast!

? I have been using a desktop PC that I built for a while now, but it’s going to be really nice going back to Mac OS. I loved using that 17” MBP.
