Apple today seeded the fifth beta of an upcoming macOS Monterey 12.5 update to developers for testing purposes, with the new update coming over a week after the release of the fourth macOS Monterey 12.5 beta.

Registered developers can download the beta through the Apple Developer Center and after the appropriate profile is installed, betas will be available through the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences.

There's no word yet on what new features or changes might be included in macOS Monterey 12.5, and nothing new was found in the first four betas. It's likely this update focuses on bug fixes and other minor improvements to the operating system.

macOS Monterey 12.5 could be one of the final updates to the macOS Monterey website as Apple is now shifting its focus to macOS Ventura, the next-generation Mac operating system coming this fall.

I agree it’s taking forever. I am waiting on it before I upgrade from Big Sur. But I’m sure Apple just wants to make solid before they move on fully to Ventura.

What was in 12.4 that was worth it? The release notes say something about studio display and one other thing that doesn’t apply to me and that’s it…

Not sure how many people do this, but if you use Applescript to control Terminal.app, you might run into random errors. I already filed a feedback about it.

🤞 we’ll get a 3rd beta of Venture in the next couple of days. Thus far Ventura is a bit of a disaster. I’ve got it on my MacBook Air, which isn’t my main computer, but I may end up downgrading back to Monterey unless some of the major bugs get worked out in beta 3; as even though it isn’t my main computer, I do like to use for some things, and Ventura is making that very difficult to do!

Other PB's are coming available for todays releases, so macOS 12.5 beta 5 PB should be available now or soon.
You would be surprised, I was on Windows 11, pressed Windows key + . to enter the flag of my home country and couldn’t find it. Switched over to Big Sur and done. These little things sometimes turn out to be a big deal.

I have to restart my Mac every 2-3 days because it gets filled up with activities like "MTL Compiler Service" or "disnoted". They dublicate themself dozens and dozens of times eating away the ram. Am I the only one with that problem? Its not like the known memory leak where one app is eating all the ram, never read of my problem anywhere.

Boot into safe mode as documented and see how it is running

Anyone else seeing Safari not opening a new browser window with a Cmd-n if you don't already have a browser window open?

Any chance they have fixed the bug making MacBooks having to be restarted before they will recharge, which was only introduced with the 12.4 update?
This is a real problem for me too. The battery life is awesome, but eventually even my 14" needs to recharge. And when it doesn't do so reliably it is a big annoyance.

Something horrible here - right click on Documents or Applications in the dock and click "Open in Finder" and I get an error, "The application Finder can't be opened -609".
Finder can still be opened by double clicking the Macintosh HD icon.
Upgraded from b4. The only other new thing was uninstalling Intel MS Teams and installing AS MS Teams.

Also, clicking on minimized applications in the dock isn't opening the window. I have to right-click and select a window (even if there's only one) from the list. It's not consistent though - some work and some do not.

Same here. I filed feedback and have now reverted back to 12.5 b4.

But now my Messages aren't showing with 12.5 b4.

EDIT: Logging out of Messages and logging back in fixed the Messages problem after going back to 12.5 b4
