Best smartphone <$300 on the market currently!
I've had this device for a few months now and it is without question the best smartphone on the market at it's price point.I work in wireless and use the latest devices daily as customers purchase them. Besides the camera, there is honestly no smartphone on the market currently that justifies its price like this device does. The display is great. It's 1080p with a PPI of 426(much higher than the iPhone) so images are sharp. Color accuracy is very good even when not on the "vibrant" setting. The device runs a 95% stock version of Android 7.0 with minor Moto features. The Moto features it does have are fantastic and I've come to really appreciate them. Quick glances of notifications on the lock screen with the ability to interact with them. Twist the device twice(or press the power/lock button twice) from anywhere in the phone to quick access to camera. Twist twice while in the camera to get the selfie cam. Chop twice to activate the flashlight. Use the fingerprint sensor (which is excellent!) to access recent apps as well as a back gesture. Honestly every device on the market should have these! I feel spoiled with them lol.Battery life is excellent. With light to moderate usage I get 6-7+ hours of screen on time. With heavy usage about 5 hours (being on the phone all day). The biggest downfall to this device is the camera... And honestly, it's not that bad... It takes good photos in good lighting and ok photos in low light. It's basically the same camera that's in the Galaxy S7 but it doesn't have OIS so that hurts it in some conditions. Take your time, keep your hand steady, and you'll snap some good shots! If you want a better camera fork up the cash for a $500+ device. It's also worth noting that this device isn't water resistant and has no wireless charging. You can't expect flagship features on a $300 device...Honestly, my favorite aspect of this device that I appreciate is that is runs nearly stock Android. The OS is buttery smooth even with the mid-range processor (Snapdragon 625). I've noticed very minor lag maybe twice since I opened the box. When it does I simply restart(power off and power back on) and it's buttery smooth again. Android has definitely come a long way and I'm very impressed. It's very well optimized. I also appreciate Google AI and Google Now. Google Assistant is very nice. Intuitive, intelligent, and simple. Kills Apple's Siri for sure. I use Google AI everyday and it definitely makes life easier! Combines weather, news, travel, shopping, and other information all in one place; laid out well and works wonderfully! In my opinion, Google and Android have over taken Apple and iOS. Android is now very optimized and efficient and on par with iOS if not better! The bonus is being able to customize it!If you're on a budget or simply don't want to spend $700+ on a device but want your monies worth. You won't find a better option out there for <$300!

Been playing with my new Moto G5 plus for a couple days now. So far, I love it. I'll be picking up a new sim card for it tomorrow.
Responsiveness is lightning fast, very nice repeatably reliable finger print readier never misses a beat. I've never been disappointed by Motorola. Motorola makes solidly reliable phones with everything that the majority of people would need.

For those of you considering this phone, I've no doubt you'll be happy with it. If you want a screen protector and a case, below are the links to the items I selected for my Moto G5 Plus.

Supershieldz (3 pack) tempered glass screen protector
    https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B06X9ZDWCW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This screen protector is the best fitting screen protector I've found. Truly a near edge-to-edge application. The nice thing is, if you get dust under it or mess up applying it, you have 2 more chances. I was very careful when applying it to my lovely Moto G5 Plus, and had no difficulty the first time. Take your time, be careful and line things up, and you'll be fine.

Supcase - Unicorn Beatle Moto G5 Plus case
    https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B072N2QPL7/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
What I want in a phone case is the best protection. I don't care about how bulky it is, I simply want to protect my investment. Now grated, I have always bought Ballistic cases because they are an outstanding case, however, Ballistic doesn't make a case for the Moto G5 Plus. So for me personally, I methodically and exhaustively researched and researched and researched until I narrowed it down to two. The second place runner up was the Poetic Revolution, but the winner was the Unicorn Beatle case. Both appear to be a very well designed case, but what gave the Unicorn Beatle case a winning edge was the larger protective screen lip. What I mean by protective screen lip is the lip of the case that extends above and around the entire phone screen. This is very important for protecting your screen because when you place your phone on a surface, screen down, or if your phone falls with the screen down, a larger screen lift will put a larger gap between your screen and the surface it lands on. I'm sure there's a proper technical term for it, but I haven't found that, lol. I know far too many people who didn't get a case with enough of a protective screen lip, and when their phones fell in the parking lot or any other area where there may be small pebbles, it was the tiny pebble that ruined their screen or screen protector.
Equally important as the phone screen, the back of the Unicorn Beatle case is thick enough to also provide a nice protective lift/lip for the camera lens as well.
As for the fit of the phone into the Unicorn Beatle case, I cannot imagine a better fit. It's truly perfect. The phone snaps into the face frame, and the face frame snugly and securely pops into the outer protective rubber housing.
The sensitivity of the volume and power buttons do stiffen up a bit, but personally I like that. It leaves less chance of accidental power ups/downs or volume changes. The USB and ear phone covers securely snap into place, yet are flexible enough not to be a problem plugging in a USB cord or headphone plug.
Regardless of the fact that this case comes with a built in screen protector, we have to be realistic. There are two types of screen protectors. There's the tempered glass screen protector which protects your phone screen from scratches and being chattered by small pebbles, and then there's the screen protectors that only protect your phone screen from scratches. Built in screen protectors really do little to nothing for protecting the phone screen from being shattered. This is why I also bought a tempered glass screen protector. They absolutely make a difference. With that in mind, I was concerned if the Moto G5 Plus would fit properly in the Unicorn Beatle case with a tempered glass screen protector on it, and I'm thrilled to say it fits so nicely you cannot ever tell the difference. My other concern was responsiveness of the phone screen with the combination of the tempered glass and built in screen protector, and again, I'm thrilled to say I noticed no reduction of sensitivity or responsiveness.
As for the belt clip that comes with the Unicorn Beatle case, it's built very sturdy, however, it's engineering is just a little flawed. Although it holds the phone securely, it also pushes on the power button of the phone just enough to power it down. It's designed to hold the phone in one specific way because one of the latches that secures the phone to the belt clip is designed with a little detent for the power button, but it's not enough to prevent the power button from being depressed and shutting off the phone. I will be taking a closer look at this to see if I can modify it to work properly. Whether I get this to work or not isn't a deal breaker for me though. The phone case is well worth the price even without the belt clip.

I hope this helps you in your purchase decisions.

Why You Need to Buy the Moto G5 Plus Smartphone

I've lived through the days of large, heavy analog bagphones and beepers, subsequent cellphones that had multiple issues, as did most carriers, and features that were either toys or nuisances, depending on your point of view. Today, though, the basic smartphone has obsoleted several devices, inclusive of the bulky plug-in-the-cigarette-lighter GPS, the travel alarm clock, and the small-sensor standalone digital camera. Depending on your version of use, a good smartphone may well accomplish most of the tasks formerly performed with laptops, portable DVD players, the aforeamentioned GPS, and even more predestrian items like the pocket calculator and the little flashlight.

There have been unlocked, well-featured phones for a while now. Preferring to squander my money on food and clothing, of late I ended up with an inexpensive Samsung Galaxy Sky, an impressive 5 inch phone with a modest 1.5 GB of RAM, 16 GB of on-board internal memory, but excellent battery life (25 hours talk time) and the ability to accept Micro-SD cards to expand memory. While no speed demon, it does common tasks with little effort, the 5 inch 1280 x 720 resolution screen is certainly good enough, and the cameras do fairly well in good lighting conditions. Available for $130, sometimes less, with a Tracfone 1350 minute airtime package included, it is enough phone for any casual user. It is fun to have the latest and greatest, of course, but it will cost you as in $725 for an unlocked Samsung S8 or perhaps $825 for an unlocked Apple iPhone 7 Plus. You can get the 256GB model of the Apple for about $1150.

The $299 Moto 5 Plus 5th Generation, also known as the Moto G5 Plus, has 4 GB of RAM, more than Android 7 will typically use, 64GB of memory, Micro-SD card capability, and you can use it with essentially any carrier. You can get the Amazon ad-supported version with 2GB RAM / 32GB internal memory for $184.99, but the 4GB / 64GB ad-free version was an easy choice for me.

The Moto G5 Plus is excellent due to cumulative features. It is faster than most smartphones, has a better camera than most, charges faster than many, has a better battery life than many, and can be used with all four major carriers in the U.S. It also runs a bloatware-free, clean version of Android, so the basic performance is not gimped as it is in the case of many other phones. My sole accessory purchase was a Tudia case, offering a moderate level of additional drop protection and grip without excessive bulk.

The Moto G5 Plus is superb product at an excellent price point and I'm delighted to use it daily and just as delighted to recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great price / performance balance
Reviewed in Canada on September 9, 2017
I've waffled between iPhones & Androids but am not an Android power user. I consider this a great price/performance ratio for a phone but there may be 'must have' Android features that are missing but I just don't recognize. Good screen with extra screen space if you enable gestures on the fingerprint reader. Battery life looks good - very heavy use over the first couple of days to get set up & still had hours left on the battery at day's end.
More than fast enough for typical use. Other gestures (chopping for flashlight, twisting for camera) are OK but I wouldn't buy the phone for them.

Pleased with the reseller quality - you'd never guess it wasn't a brand new phone and it was delivered on time for only a modest charge. Only drawback is that it's a single mediocre speaker but casting is better integrated than with iOS so it's not a real limitation.

Saludos cordiales.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sin mucha diferencia del Moto G4
Reviewed in Mexico on September 28, 2017
