Abstract

Due to increasingly tense and demanding work, organizations are introducing leisure support so that employees can relieve stress through leisure. However, previous studies lack measurement and verification of the perceived organizational leisure support (POLS). Accordingly, this research conducted two studies to make up for the gap in the literature. Study 1 developed a scale to measure POLS. Using both qualitative and quantitative approaches, two separate samples of employees were collected to validate the POLS scale. Study 2 examined the impact of the POLS constructs and POLS dimensions on leisure engagement, leisure satisfaction, work engagement, and work satisfaction. The findings indicated POLS benefited the leisure of employees, which then spilled over into their work engagement. The research could provide instrumental and theoretical advances regarding POLS and expand the current academic understanding of leisure support at work.
