Noticeably Better Than Firefox On Gen 1 FireTV, Whole Lot Better Than Nothing, Still Missing The YouTube App
Compared to Chrome or Firefox on a PC this would be pretty crummy, but on the Fire TV I think it's the best browser option. The only other being Firefox which is very good *for the TV Box platform of the Fire TV*. What puts Silk in first place for me is the smooth interaction and a little more settings customize than Firefox. I do wish I could set the home page. Both are speech-to-text enabled so I can (pretty successfully) enter URL's or searched by voice. On a product like FireTV I think this is absolutely essential. There are still lots of apps that are not.In user experience Silk seems to operate more smoothly than Firefox. Not by a lot but enough for me to notice on my 1st gen Fire TV. Maybe the newer and more powerful models will negate that difference. Maybe I just have new model envy.Silk does what it does well considering it's on a FireTV. With keyboard/touchpad input I'd expect a lot more control, but just look at the Fire TV voice remote. Not all that many options really. So being the best in a limited environment gets Silk 5 stars from me. It's a little better than Firefox and a whole lot better than nothing.Oh yes, I'd like the YouTube app back too. It was a very good option for browsing/viewing YouTube videos.

Found a video about installing this accidentally while watching YouTube videos on how to change the battery in an iPhone. Was very skeptical. Turns out, it was fairly easy to install - and it works! Already had the Firestick in use. Now have a long list of channels back (Discovery, Comedy Channel, TLC, etc, etc.) that we gave up years ago due to Comcast's skyrocketing rates. Plus a couple I never heard of. Local channels (NBC, CBS, ABC) seem to be based out of the min-Atlantic region, so we will need a digital antenna to pick up those. Couldn't be happier.

This browser is absolutely the worst piece of software on my Fire TV Stick. Slow, unresponsive...not typical of the rest of my Fire TV Stick apps.

Cumbersome and unintuitive, Amazon really needs to re-think, and, at the very least, re-work, this embarrassment of a product.

Works, but is hard to navigate with a remote. I use my phone as a fire remote which makes it easier. It’s a bit tricky and kind of slow, but at least it works for my needs. My smart tv doesn’t have amazon! I wish they would all just get together to make it easier. I think it would make us as consumers much happier and would give us the opportunity to truly try everything and choose what we like the best. That’s actually good for companies in the end because if their product shines, we will choose the one that we prefer on our own! I use my fire stick to access amazon.

Well it only took 3 years for Amazon to finally add a browser for it's FireTV device - I guess better late than never. This browser seems fine for at least my infrequent, occasional use. However the lower 3-star rating is due to the fact that it has one unexplainably ridiculous (as in annoying) missing feature, meaning it has NO exit button to allow you to easily exit the app. This is annoying because if you have spent several minutes surfing to several different sites and then are ready to close/exit the app, the only way I have found to cleanly exit is repeatedly clicking the back or return button on the remote which carries you back thru every site you've visited before finally displaying an exit screen that asks you if you want to exit. If I've visited half a dozen to a dozen different sites, I do NOT want to have to repeatedly hit the return/back button that many times to finally get to an exit screen. This is something that definitely needs to be fixed! This must be a trend, as a recent update to the FireTV Pandora app also removed its EXIT button so now there is no clean way to close or shut down the Pandora app either - go figure.

Thanks Amazon for adding a browser and making it work quite well with the standard remote (e.g. voice entry of text, mouse-on-demand with pressing of directional pad). I find it works even better with the Fire TV app I have on my Android phone - I can use that for keyboard entry, or copy from another app on my phone e.g. Chrome and paste into the Fire TV app cursor box).

This browser replaces the main feature I missed from my old Google TV. Generally, it's easier to use a browser on a handheld device, but this is good for watching a web video on a big screen and I find it sometimes works better than screen mirroring from your phone, e.g. audio sync with video.

The only reason I got this was because of the Google-Amazon beef. I hate proprietary crap like that. This app helps me to avoid the fallout and watch Youtube videos on my FireTV. That's all I really use it for. I like that once you navigate there, it remembers when you return, so you don't have to do it every time you use it. Only downside is I can't screencast stuff from my phone, but I actually like the little up-down-left-right letter navigation thing for searches, so it's cool. Call me weird, but it's like a video game in and of itself. Anyway, I'll keep using it until they sort that mess out and get the YouTube app back up and running.

I had sent a memo to amazon to incorporate the Lakers game to their fire tv even at a fee. The sylver browser basically give you the lakers game free if you know where to find it on the net free. Having the internet work on the second and first generation fire tv is the greatest thing amazon ever done I think. like I said . almost everything is in the net theses days is just the matter of where to find them for free. so great tool. it worked fine when I first got it but then I am having a problem viewing the lakers game lately wondering if it due to the problem with apple I believe. It looks like the problem has been solve, I just read that amazon will be now selling apple product. if that is the case, I think amazon did the right thing to find a solution to the problem. YouTube is certainly a great product for their customers.

When Youtube app was taken down from Fire TV since then I'm using this browser for streaming YouTube content and the experience has been awesome. Apart from that my browsing experience on this browser too has been quite smooth.
