In the article about the WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.23.1.77 update, we announced a new feature to allow users to associate a email address with their account, where they can get a 6-digit code. In fact, WhatsApp is now introducing an extra access method to their platform, enabling users to log into their accounts in situations where they may face temporary difficulties receiving the 6-digit code via SMS. In the past few hours, WhatsApp has released the 23.24.70 update for iOS on the App Store. Currently, the official changelog doesn’t provide useful information regarding which new features are available in this version, and it’s often outdated. However, we just discovered that WhatsApp is widely rolling out this feature!

The official changelog still mentions that a bug that was causing app slowdown for some users was fixed, even although the nature of the bug is currently unknown. However, even though it’s not mentioned in the official changelog on the App Store, we can also confirm that WhatsApp is releasing the ability to assiciate your email address with your WhatsApp account. Just open WhatsApp Settings > Account to experiment with this feature today. This is an alternative login method in case users are temporarily unable to get the 6-digit code via SMS, but they must still use a phone number to create an account, and logging in with a phone number still remains an option. It’s important to note that WhatsApp is not replacing phone numbers with email addresses, as this feature is simply providing users with an extra access method.

If you don’t have this feature, note that some accounts may receive it over the coming weeks, although it has not been indicated in the official changelog. Please stay ahead by regularly updating WhatsApp from the App Store and the TestFlight app to get this feature in the future in case you don’t have it after installing this update. It’s also important to mention that many users may get a redesigned interface with a new green color, which we announced with the WhatsApp for iOS 23.21.72 update.

A feature that allows users to associate an email address with their accounts is available for iOS users who install the latest update of WhatsApp from the App Store. Make sure to install this update to enjoy a better user experience.
