Our 58 years Ago

50 years ago was my graduation. I'm not sure if I am off probation yet. We had a party at my apartment and arrived on campus in time to get in line to walk onto The Quad. Those who weren't graduating took positions on the portico above the post office. They had beach chair, vuvuzelas, air horn, lots of confetti and loud voices. As I approached the giver of diploma, they jumped into the fray. There was screaming, horns, throwing of confetti and other noises so great the person handing out the diplomas asked me if I was student council president. I told him no. He asked if I was an All America athlete, Again No, He seemed frustrated as he asked exactly who I was. I told, "I'm a good host. We had a party last night." As I got halfway up the aisle back to my seat, they erupted again. I thought it was only proper to take my cap off and give a full effort bow of thanks and homage. Silly me, I thought we were done. A person sitting close to me opened his diploma to see a note on the 1940s diploma saying, "When you pay your parking tickets, you'll get yours." He blasted a long, excitable F bomb. For some reason everyone looked at me. To his eternal credit, our friend jumped up and took the blame, "It was me not him." I can't understand why I haven't been asked to reprise my day.
