Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen), a rather clueless police detective, tries to foil a plot to turn innocent people into assassins through mind control. After his partner, Norberg (O.J. Simpson), is shot, Frank sets out to find the culprit, leading him to business tycoon Vincent Ludwig (Ricardo Montalban). I had the opportunity to introduce this modern comedy classic to a very special young man who was visiting from New York last week. It had been awhile since I sat down and watched it, and I'm glad to report it holds up splendidly. Pound for pound, this is the single funniest movie I've ever seen. It joins WAITING FOR GUFFMAN and TOOTSIE as my three most favorite comedies of all time. Nielsen is absolute perfection and no one else on earth could have made Frank Drebin come to life in such a special way. I know comedy is rarely rewarded come Oscar time, but he definitely would have been on my ballot. However, the nicest surprise in the movie is Presley, showing a quite unexpected funny bone and providing a couple of the movie's biggest laughs. This is one of those wonderful films that is so filled to the brim with jokes and sight gags that I find something new every time I watch it. I am particularly thankful for a film liked THE NAKED GUN that provides such joy and entertainment during such difficult times. This is a comic treasure, and I seriously don't think I'll ever find another movie that cracks me up in quite the same way.

Funniest movie of all time and Leslie Nielsen's best performance. Hilarious jokes but the plot isn't absolutely ridiculous and never falls flat. If you have an hour and a half make sure to watch this movie.
