Membership

The IOF recognises two categories of members: full member and associate member. As of 1 July 2006, the IOF had 67 member countries of which 48 are full, and 19 associate members.

Only one legally constituted orienteering organisation from any one country (i.e. independent member of the IOC) may be admitted as a full member.

The IOF provides for associate membership for registered organisations at an early stage of development wishing to benefit from close co-operation with the IOF and its members. This is only possible for organisations from countries which are not yet full members.
