Aftermarket tinkering on Android phones isn't as prominent as it once used to be. That's not to say you can't root your Android phone or install a custom ROM like LineageOS on it. You can still tinker and customize your phone to a large extent as long as you have the interest and the technical know-how. Most — if not all — aftermarket tinkering requires you to connect your Android smartphone to a computer using a USB cable, so you can use tools like the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) to interact with the device.

Honor 90 review: The sleekest midrange phone to come out this year

The Honor 90 is one of the most comfortable phones to hold with a very good main camera too. But the software and pointless 2MP camera drag it down

Honor seems to have adapted sleek designs as its M.O. Last week, Honor introduced a foldable phone that was the thinnest and lightest the industry has ever seen. Now comes a mid-range slab phone that's also refreshingly light and thin compared to just about every other great modern phone. In fact, I may go out on a limb and say the Honor 90 is the most comfortable slab phone to hold that has been released this year.

The Honor Magic V2 is the new thinnest and lightest foldable phone on the market, with a folded footprint roughly that of the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Chinese phone brands are notoriously competitive and very quick to one-up each other. And that's led to some exciting races (for phone nerds like me, anyway), such as the 2017 battle to have the thinnest bezels, or the 2018 race to hide the selfie camera in creative ways. Now, we have the race to have the thinnest and lightest book-like foldable.

Honor Magic 5 Pro review: On the path to greatness

Honor was known for making midrange phones for years while it was still a part of Huawei. With its separation from Huawei to become a standalone brand in 2021, Honor is pushing further into the flagship space to battle for the best smartphone title — and the newly announced Magic 5 Pro is here for the next step.

MWC 2023 was a big one for Honor. It had quite a few announcements, some of which we already knew about in some form, like the Magic VS. But the star of Honor's event was the new Magic 5 Pro. This flagship phone introduces many new hardware and software features, from the highly-anticipated Star Wheel Triple Camera system with a new Millisecond Falcon Capture algorithm and AI Motion Sensing Capture to the Quad-Curved Floating Screen. Honor is going all out with the Magic 5 Pro to offer an impressive user experience.

This year marks Honor's 10th anniversary, but the Chinese tech company still feels and behaves like an upstart new brand eager to prove itself — and that's because it sort of is. Its first seven years happened under Huawei's massive shadow, which meant the brand was relegated to sub-brand status. Then came the U.S. sanctions on Huawei, which also crippled Honor's appeal throughout most of 2019 and 2020.

Honor Magic Vs hands-on: Finally, some competition for Samsung foldables

Samsung has a monopoly on the large foldable space right now, but Honor can change that.

4
By

Honor has a new foldable phone called the Magic Vs, and unlike its previous one or existing foldables from Chinese brands such as Xiaomi or Oppo, it'll launch "globally" in Q1 2023. Honor has not announced specific markets, but the list will very likely include countries like the U.K, Germany, Spain, Singapore, and Malaysia (and almost certainly, not the U.S.). Even if market availability isn't as wide as the word "globally" usually implies, this is still a noteworthy launch because the Honor Magic Vs will finally give Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 4 some competition on a global scale.

Honor entered the foldable smartphone space earlier this year with the Honor Magic V. The device featured an in-folding design like Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 4, with a 6.45-inch OLED cover screen and a 7.9-inch foldable OLED main screen. It packed Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, a 50MP triple camera setup on the back, a large 4,750mAh battery with 66W fast charging support, and up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. Honor has now unveiled its successor, the Honor Magic Vs, which looks pretty much the same but packs several improvements inside.

In the world of tablets, there aren't a whole lot of options. You'll pretty much only ever stray towards Samsung in the realm of Android or, more likely, an iPad. A lot of Android users will be swayed by the allure of an iPad, as Apple just simply does tablets better. However, the Honor Pad 8 is an interesting tablet that does it just a little bit differently. It's geared a whole lot more towards media consumption but has a price tag to match, too.

When Huawei sold off its sub-brand Honor in late 2020 to a consortium of buyers, it was welcome news to many phone fans. Not only did it mean that we get a new independent player in the smartphone scene, but there were hopes that Honor devices would regain access to Google Mobile Services, which had been stripped from all devices under the Huawei umbrella since mid-2019. And that was exactly what happened: Honor re-made its global debut in the summer of 2021 with the Magic 3 series, with a big marketing push about being an independent brand and having full Google support to boot.

Honor 70 Review: Great photos, mid-range everything else

Honor has been making a bit of a resurgence in recent times, launching the flagship Honor Magic 4 Pro in the west back in May. That came after the company's first solo western venture in the form of the Honor 50, which was a mid-range phone with not a lot else to offer. The Honor 70 is now available in the west, having launched in China a few months back. It packs a Snapdragon 778G Plus, a 120Hz AMOLED screen, and a 54MP Sony IMX800 primary camera, meaning that it's certainly no slouch. There's a kicker though -- this phone comes in at €549.

Honor Earbuds 3 Pro Review: Amazing audio quality and a comfortable design

The Honor Earbuds 3 Pro are some of the very best earphones on the market today, and you can read why we think that in our review.

Honor has been making earphones for years, and I reviewed the Honor Magic Earbuds in the first half of 2020. They were a pair of distinctly average earphones and came about essentially as a rebrand of the Huawei FreeBuds 3i. The company has been making earphones since, and while I'm confused about the naming lineage, what I can say is that the Honor Earbuds 3 Pro are a pretty fantastic pair of earphones that I've grown to love.

Honor Magic 4 Pro Review: A swing and a near-miss

The Honor Magic 4 Pro is a flagship smartphone from Honor that nearly does it all, but it's just shy of the mark of being great.

Honor's back, and they are better than ever. Following the company's split from Huawei towards the end of 2020, we saw its first solo venture arrive in the form of the decidedly mid-range Honor 50 series. Now the company's back with a flagship smartphone in the west, the Honor Magic 4 Pro, and it shows that Honor means business in its great western return.
