Sometimes superhero movies don't work out so well. There's always a slight hope that reboots of popular films will work out. In many cases, it's best to leave the original films alone. Take for example Hellboy with Ron Perlman in the lead role and Guillermo Del Toro in the director's chair. It didn't lead to a franchise success but did better than the 2019 reboot that plummeted.

A common topic of discussion is the Fantastic Four films from 2005 and 2007. They weren't a grand success but became a cult favorite amongst comic book fans. But in 2015, a reboot was released that had fans shaking their heads in dismay. Here are ten hilarious memes about the horrible mark the Fantastic Four film left behind.

Doctor Doom Looks Funny

In the first franchise films, Doctor Doom (Julian McMahon) had a much more rugged and pronounced look to his metal face covering. But in the reboot, fans weren't impressed in the slightest with the popular villain. He was played by actor Toby Kebbell in the film.

The new Doctor Doom looked nothing like how fans expected. He didn't have any resemblance to the comic book version either. Instead, he looked like the crash dummy from the commercials in the late 90s.

First For Everything

Fantastic Four plummeted in the box office and wasn't favored amongst audiences. It currently has a 4.3 score from IMDb and 9% Tomatometer rating from Rotten Tomatoes. No superhero movie is complete without the possible threat of destroying the Earth and all human life.

In the film, this occurs when Doctor Doom activates a portal on Planet Zero with a Quantum Gate that will consume Earth. The movie was so bad that it was the first time fans actually rooted for Earth to be destroyed instead of the heroes saving the day.

Venom Gets More Screen Time

If there was one notorious anti-hero in comic books it would be Venom from Spider-Man. In Spider-Man 3, there were three main villains Toby McGuire's character had to face: Eddie Brock (Topher Grace) as Venom, Flint Marco (Thomas Haden) as Sandman, and Harry Osborn (James Franco) as New Goblin.

Fans couldn't help but chuckle at the realization that despite Doctor Doom being the central villain in the reboot film, he wasn't that important. He got less screen time than Venom, who was only one-third of the villains Spider-Man had to defeat.

Doctor Doom Is Adopted

When news came that they were going to revive the Fantastic Four franchise, fans' were skeptical. The trailer only furthered fans' initial thoughts. A meme was made showcasing that there needed to be some leniency seeing as the characters were still from Marvel.

But as soon as Doctor Doom came on screen, it backfired. The meme uses the scene of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) from The Avengers where he tries to defend Loki because he's his brother but then recants saying he is adopted when mentioned he killed many people. It seemed best not to associate the characters in this film with Marvel.

Ssshh, It's Okay

The scene the meme uses to make its joke doesn't have anything to do with the film, but it fits spectacularly. The scene is from the film Finding Neverland in 2004, starring Johnny Depp. The meme has Freddie Highmore's character, Peter Llewelyn Davies sitting with J.M. Barrie (Depp).

Barrie asks what movie he saw, to which Peter answers the Fantastic Four reboot film. The comical part comes seeing Peter's tearful eyes and Barrie hugging him and trying to console him. Audiences can understand the pain from having to watch the film crumble before them.

Avocado Having Sex With An Older Avocado

No one could stop laughing throughout Deadpool with Ryan Reynolds. It had many comedic moments, including when Weasel (T.J. Miller) is shocked by Wade's (Reynolds) new disgusting face. The scene is perfect for a meme to describe the horror of the Fantastic Four reboot film.

The reboot was bad, horrid, and plain ugly. It's the equivalent of describing Wade's horrendously burned Freddy Krueger-like face. It wasn't pretty in the slightest.

Doctor Doom Lacks Doom

In the original 2000s films, Doctor Doom had a bit more evil to him than the reboot. He was still the rich millionaire who had devilishly good looks, but he had a dark aura about him. He wasn't the evilest villain in the films, but he did a decent job.

In the reboot, fans were not impressed by Doctor Doom. He lacked doom. A spoiler meme was made that is more of a warning than a spoiler. It tells audiences that Doom is lackluster and a bit drab who can easily be defeated.

No More Please

Despite the unsuccessful film, Fox still had ideas to continue the franchise forward at one point. Fans couldn't understand why. Companies in the past were adamant about reviving the group of heroes, but it wasn't working. The film only made roughly around $25.5 million for its domestic opening.

A meme had to be made, and using The Simpsons was a great idea. There is a scene where school kids scream in agony when Homer goes overboard and assaults the Krusty Burglar to near death. The same can be said for the idea of continuing to a sequel film.

No Good Movies

X-Men: Dark Phoenix got some initial hype when it was originally announced. People were excited to see a bigger backstory for Jean Grey. Before it was given a chance, an article surfaced that it would be just as bad as the Fantastic Four reboot. This effectively put a dark cloud over the film.

The meme has a scene from Friends where Chandler (Matthew Perry) can't find a decent movie to go see he says, "It's official. There are no good movies." X-Men: Dark Phoenix getting tagged with the same shame as the reboot film isn't good. The film got a similar rating with IMDb currently giving it a 5.8 and a 23% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Even Batman & Robin Was Better

Hollywood has had a hard time making the Batman character come to life on-screen. Many actors have come and gone and driven the Batmobile, but none have stuck. Amongst the many films, the film Batman & Robin from 1997 gets an especially bad reputation.

George Clooney, the main star, didn't even like the film. For the Fantastic Four reboot, it got worse when they were ranked lower than Batman & Robin on Rotten Tomatoes. That's saying something, and it's not good.
