Mac and Me is a blatant ripoff of E.T., but unlike E.T., the main alien is nightmarishly ugly and very annoying, only being able to communicate through whistling and making annoying noises. This movie is also an advertisement for Coca-Cola and McDonalds, as the one thing that can basically bring the aliens back to life is Coke, for some reason. The acting is also painfully awful most of the time, and the forced "romance" between Michael and Courtney doesn't work at all, since the acting is so bad (as well as the script) they have zero chemistry whatsoever. This film also tries to make you care about Mac (which is obviously named that for MacDonald's)by making him cry, and making it seem like he misses his family so much that you should feel bad for him, even though there really isn't anything to like about him, because of how ugly he is, as well as his actions in the first half, as he basically stalks the family for a long time, and ruins their house (though he does fix it later). It's also very predictable, as I knew how it would end, at least 15 minutes before it got there. Also, this "film" doesn't make much sense for many reasons, though a few examples would be: 1. Unless I just wasn't paying attention, which would make sense considering how boring the second half of this movie is, but I don't think they ever name him Mac. At some random point in the movie Eric just calls him Mac, for no clear reason. 2. Eric somehow knows the one way to catch this kind of Alien, without having any way to. 3. The scientists that are looking for Mac have no way of knowing where he is, as the aliens escaped almost directly after they were originally discovered, therefore the scientists had no way to do any research on the species, so they would have no way of tracking it. These are just a few of the many plot holes in this painful copy of E.T. The reason I gave it 1 star instead of 1/2 stars is because there are some "So bad it's good" that make it fun to watch, such as the "birthday party" scene, the "road escape" scene, and the "Hill" scene, which inspired the long running pranks Paul Rudd pulled on Conan O'Brien, so I would say that is the only saving grace of this movie.

Mac and Me was a pretty bad movie. This movie was so bad that it was good, but I'm still not giving it good scores. Mac and Me had horrible costumes, and it had similarities to E.T and differences to E.T. Also this movie was not funny at all, expect for the aliens wearing clothes. This movie pretty boring at all, expect for the end of it, but how are you interested at the end if you are not interested in the beginning. Also what is weird is at one point of the movie, Eric and Debbie were trying to catch Mac, and the next minute Mac is there alien friend. What a boring ripoff. I give this movie a 31%.
