Diane Lane shines in the role, but the movie adds nothing new to the genre and the resolution is unsatisfying. Read critic reviews

Far from perfect (Gere's performance is a bit of a drag) but a decidedly better affair driven thriller than Lyne's more popular foray into this genre, "Fatal Attraction", which takes such a howlingly bad turn at the end I'm shocked that it remains so well regarded. Here Lyne gets to keep a mundane and less sensational ending that feels more honest. Also Diane Lane gives a hell of a performance.

In my review of Under the Tuscan Sun, I was grasping for hte name of the film that relaunched Diane Lane and made us realize how much we missed her. Well, it was Unfaithful...the story of the suddenly unappealing Richard Gere and he ends up losing the attention of his wife to Olivier Martinez. Likely one of the best erotic movies that doesn't have a XXX rating.

Diane Lane is brilliant - but for a thriller, Unfaithful is inconsistently riveting.

Somewhere between soft core porn and an Oscar nominated drama.
