Medical Directory

Find a qualified English-speaking doctor at your destination.

Trusted English speaking doctors

Being sick away from home can be a daunting experience, but your IAMAT membership gives you the peace of mind to travel confidently.

Our Medical Directory puts you in touch with qualified English-speaking doctors committed to providing the highest standards of care. Practitioners do not pay a fee to be listed with us. This allows us to maintain high ethical standards and ensure that the practitioners in our network have your care as their first priority.

How it works

  1. Contact the IAMAT-affiliated clinic near you to make an appointment.
  2. Present your IAMAT member card prior to the consultation to alert staff that you’re a member.
  3. You pay the affiliated practitioner directly.

Consultation rates

lAMAT members can expect to pay up to a maximum amount on the rates listed below for the first consultation provided by private practice doctors. These rates do not apply to hospitals and clinics which will charge IAMAT members their standard fees.

•Regular office / clinic calls = US$100
•House / hotel calls = US$150
•Night calls (from 9:00pm to 9:00am) = US$170
•Sundays and local holidays = US$170
These fees do not apply to laboratory procedures such as blood tests, ECGs, X-rays, surgical procedures, hospitalization or any other expenses incurred.

We are not an insurance company

IAMAT is a non-profit organization linking travellers to health practitioners vetted by us. If you seek care from one of our affiliated practitioners, you will pay them directly at the time of the consultation.

Some travel insurance providers may allow you to file a claim for reimbursement for your consultation with an IAMAT doctor. Other insurance providers require you to seek care from their own preferred provider networks. Contact your insurance provider for clarification before your trip.

Why do travellers choose IAMAT doctors?

Knowing where to find a trusted doctor brings you peace of mind when you’re travelling. These are the top four reasons travellers rely on IAMAT doctors.

1. You’ll find a reliable doctor that speaks your language.

IAMAT-affiliated practitioners are licensed in their country of residence and are members in good standing in their field of practice. They are fluent in English and many are fluent in more than two languages.

2. You get professional care at an affordable price.

Our private practice doctors charge IAMAT members a preferred consultation rate. You can expect similar care to what you get back home.

3. Our doctors provide care for both unexpected illnesses and chronic health conditions.

If you need medical attention, our doctors will provide care or refer you to a specialist, if needed. You can make an appointment with them for any health concern including sudden illnesses, injuries, chronic conditions, prescription refills, or mental health. Unlike travel insurance, there are no exclusions or limitations.

4. They’re knowledgeable about local health risks and travellers’ health.

Our doctors are highly qualified. They have extensive knowledge and experience with local health risks and health issues that affect travellers. They can also help you navigate the local health system if you need additional tests or a referral to a specialist.
