Twenty years ago, our European family grew 🇪🇺🎉    On 1 May 2004, citizens of 🇨🇾 Cyprus, 🇨🇿 Czech Republic, 🇪🇪 Estonia, 🇭🇺 Hungary, 🇱🇻 Latvia, 🇱🇹 Lithuania, 🇲🇹 Malta, 🇵🇱 Poland, 🇸🇰 Slovakia, 🇸🇮 Slovenia became EU citizens.     Since then, two more enlargements have taken place, solidifying our European unity.    The EU is now the world's largest integrated market, boosting trade and economic growth for its countries, while also offering citizens rights and opportunities aligned with shared European values.    Enlargement is a success story.   The EU is stronger today because of the inclusion of new countries, and each country is better off thanks to EU membership.   Discover how we delivered on the promise we made 20 years ago 👉 https://lnkd.in/erTej4Mf #20YearsTogether #EuropeanUnion

Exciting news for all researchers! 🧪👩🔬   This week we announced new calls worth over €1.25 billion to support research under the Horizon Europe’s Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions. Health professionals have their very own way of writing.   Luckily, we have an entire department for translation!     This week, we launched the Critical Medicine Alliance, which gathers national authorities, companies or organisations as industry representatives, and non-governmental organisations.      Its goal is to address and avoid shortages of critical medicines by enhancing the security of supply and reducing EU supply chain dependencies.    The EuropeanParliament has also adopted two important files connected to health. These measures aim to:    🔸establishing a European Health Data Space to give citizens immediate and simple access to their digital health data from anywhere in the EU;  🔹 increasing the safety and quality of substances of human origin, such as blood transfusions and bone marrow transplants.    These are all stepping stones towards a stronger European #HealthUnion    Learn more about the Alliance ➡ #EUdelivers #EuropeanUnion

And equal pay needs transparency    One year ago, the EU Pay Transparency Directive was approved, bringing us a step closer to equality. Ukraine is carrying a heavy burden on its shoulders for all of us. Today, we are disbursing an additional €1.5 billion under the €50 billion Ukraine Facility. This is vital to keep Ukraine's state and services running, while it fights back the aggressor. Total EU support to Ukraine and its people since February 2022 now amounts to €98.5 billion. ♻️ Repair, don't replace!     What's your first instinct when your phone or laptop stops working?   Many of us tend to go for the easy fix and replace it altogether.    Good news – the 'right to repair' directive has been adopted by the European Parliament! ⚠️ Opening of the second formal proceedings against TikTok under the Digital Services Act. We are concerned that TikTok has launched the "Task and Reward Program" of TikTok Lite in France and Spain without conducting a prior diligent assessment of the risks it entails. We suspect an infringement of the Digital Services Act, and we consider that there are risks of serious damage for the mental health of users. Therefore, we have communicated to TikTok our intention to impose interim measures consisting of the suspension of the TikTok Lite rewards programme in the EU.
