During the UK Foreign Secretary Lord David Cameron's visit to Central Asia he promoted opportunities for British business and announced £50 million of new funding to support the sovereignty and independence of states across the region. He also announced a new British Council initiative to promote the English language in Central Asia, including online teaching resources for English teachers. In Uzbekistan, the Foreign Secretary met Denise Waddingham, British Council Country Director and reiterated the government's support for educational initiatives in Central Asia.
