Today we are calling for change in five areas, to ensure a positive experience for all international students in, and thinking about coming to, the UK. From the language used by governments to recognise the contributions made by international students to the UK’s economy and communities, to the transformation of digital tools to support the timely processing of visas and immigration data, the recommendations aim to ensure that the UK’s global image remains positive and welcoming to international students Read the recommendations here: https://lnkd.in/eDNYxh_3

Eid Mubarak to all celebrating. For many international students, this Ramadan will have been the first observed away from family. Actively supporting students to practice their faith and traditions helps to foster a sense of belonging on campus and within their newfound communities, which can be crucial for student wellbeing and academic focus. At The University of Sheffield International College, students of different faiths and nationalities came together last year for an iftar, where they exchanged knowledge, perspectives and recipes from different cultures, promoting diversity and inclusion (pictured). When asked what a scientist looks like, who do you see? As World Health Day approaches, we’re sharing Arpi’s story, to encourage more young people from all backgrounds to see themselves as scientists who can tackle the global health challenges and inequalities we face today. Motivated by her commitment to understand Alzheimer’s Disease, supported by her tutor and inspired by Elizabeth Blackwell — the first woman doctor in the western world and Royal Holloway, University of London alumna — international student Apri overcame gender stereotypes and is now studying at the University for a BSc in Biomedical Sciences.
