"The State of Israel vs. Adolf Eichmann is a comprehensive examination of the Eichmann trial - hailed as a landmark study when it was published in Israel in 2001 - that reveals how the trial marked a turning point in Israel's national consciousness. Hanna Yablonka, one of Israel's leading historians, begins her narrative with the dramatic capture of Eichmann in Argentina in 1960 and describes the controversies that surrounded his abduction - the UN condemned it, and it strained Israel's new and profitable relationship with West Germany - and the emotionally wrought trial itself. She delineates the impact of the trial on the many disparate factions of Israeli society and makes clear how, in the unexpected and penetrating light of the trial, Israelis changed their notions not only about their country's own society, but about their place in the world as an independent state."--Jacket
Includes bibliographical references (pages 301-303) and index
True national priorities -- "There's never been anything like it ..." -- Ben-Gurion, an enigma -- Ben-Gurion's people and questions of logistics -- Architects of the investigation -- Six million prosecutors -- "Here we are": the witnesses--a group profile -- Problems for the justice minister -- The rationale behind the judgment -- The Holocaust survivors: the new Israelis -- The young Israelis: children of the Holocaust survivors -- Israelis in the making: the Eichmann trial and Israel's Sephardi community -- The Eichmann trial and the educational establishment -- "The Holocaust has happened now": the Eichmann trial and perception of the Shoah -- A show trial? -- Conclusion: a generation later

Subject: Fuck Israel
Subject: Fuck Israel
I am sick of hearing about Nazi war crimes. What about the crimes of Israel? They are just as shocking and just as deplorable as anything the Nazi's did. I want to see netanyahu arrested and put on the war crimes tribunal. Netanyahu is the new Hitler. Israel is the new Nazi.
