Bridging the technological gap is essential to equip students for the AI future 🔮 The release of our GoStudent Future of Education Report 2024 last week highlighted alarming figures about the access to AI in education across Europe: 🔍 Unveiling Europe's AI gap: In an era driven by technological advancement, children are eagerly forward to the future, with 54% expressing a desire to learn with AI. However, the reality is far from this, with just 24% having access to AI in their classrooms. This widening digital gap between what children aspire to learn and what schools are equipped to provide is a pressing concern. Despite the evident demand for AI integration in education, only a fraction of students in Europe have access to AI learning tools, leaving many feeling unprepared for the evolving job market. 💡 Embracing tech-centric learning: Last year our report revealed that 44% of children believed AI would enhance education by 2050. This year, over half (54%) express a firm desire to start learning with AI now. This rapid transformation underscores the urgency for educational players to adapt and embrace emerging technologies. And it's not just about AI; it's about embracing a tech-centric lifestyle. Children’s confidence about living in a world surrounded by new technologies has risen by 20% over the past 12 months, reaching a staggering 77% in 2024. Students understand the importance of digital literacy along their learning journey to help navigate the challenges of their future. Based on our data, it is clear we must bridge the digital gap and ensure all students have equitable access to technology-rich learning environments. This year’s UNESCO theme “Invest in women: accelerate progress” and “Inspire inclusion” resonates deeply, highlighting the transformative power of education in shaping the future. 📊 Data from our GoStudent Future of Education Report 2024 sheds light on the urgent need for change: - Only 62% of girls in Europe feel adequately prepared with the skills necessary for their dream careers - What's on their educational wishlist? Life skills (51%), technology development (46%), mental health management (46%), and sustainability and climate education (46%) - And soft skills are equally crucial: problem-solving (58%), creativity (55%), and curiosity (50%) are essential traits for future success. Despite the existing curriculum gaps, girls show remarkable confidence: - 74% believe technology empowers them to learn anything they want - 69% think they have the means to succeed. But teachers, parents and educational companies have a pivotal role to play: - 73% of girls consider they have role models around them - Yet, 69% seek more guidance in choosing the right direction for their future. This marks a significant shift in priorities within just a year, highlighting the growing recognition of AI's importance, alongside addressing global challenges like climate change. 👩🏻💻 56% of children in Europe believe their future job will be tech-related, yet when it comes to educating them in the field, schools struggle to keep pace. Despite children’s growing confidence in navigating a tech-centric world, a digital gap persists, with 35% of students in Europe feeling unprepared to achieve their dream job. 🖥 Over 9 in 10 teachers acknowledge the effectiveness of digital tools to learn, but only half of them regularly use them, due to limited access to technology at school. Bridging this gap appears to be crucial to improve teaching methods and prepare students for the evolving job market. 🔁 2 in 3 parents believe a mixed approach, combining online and in-person guidance, gives their children greater accessibility to learning opportunities. Exciting news from 🇮🇹 GoStudent teams up with the Italian sports association Centro Sportivo Italiano to empower young athletes! At GoStudent, supporting all students to achieve success in their academic careers is our main objective. In the case of young athletes, this support is essential because for them it is even more difficult to balance their passion for sports activities with the achievement of their academic goals. 🎓 According to a survey of 400 students conducted by Centro Sportivo Italiano: 🏊♂️ 47% expressed difficulty in finding the right balance between sports and studies. 🏅 31% would like more practical advice on how to better organise and manage their time. 📚 22% hope for more flexible schedules from educational institutions. 👩🏫 63% express the desire for greater support from schools and teachers. In order to help these students to feel better supported, GoStudent has signed a partnership with the Centro Sportivo Italiano 🤝 to address the immediate need for academic support among young athletes, and also to promote personal growth and well-being in young people.
