That aside, this was a worthwhile read. To understand how the Benedictine monks lived, and to perhaps find wisdom for living ones own life. One doesn't need to be a monk to require advice on how to deal with other humans in a manner pleasing to God. This book offers excellent assistance in that area: worth reading and worth buying.
is deep and will require a second read. I recommend the rule!
Actually, that's not a joke, that really happened.
It was so clear I obviously had to buy the book. The first few pages really touched my heart and convicted me of laziness, and I couldn't read through tears so I put it down for a while. When I picked it up again I found the rest of the book to be interesting, and perhaps inspiring to live a life of even more simplicity, although I do think that the rule itself is not for everyone, and shouldn't be taken by most people. Obviously. Thats why you have to move to a monestary to take it. I was expecting this book to be a message from the Lord about how to live my life from now on, but I found it to be more of an inspiration and provocation to be zealous for holiness, though the rule itself may be too similar to throwing off the spirit of grace to embrace the law.
I'm glad I got it though.
It came promptly and in very good condition, too.
