About the author
Jon Rognerud is a recognized authority on SEO (search engine optimization), web development and search technologies. He has spent more than 15 years creating and managing small- and large-scale web marketing projects within the real estate, healthcare, banking, legal and internet business communities.
He writes passionately about search marketing and takes a "no sales pitch here" approach to showing small businesses how to succeed online. He believes that good, solid business fundamentals coupled with a sound internet strategy will always do well.

Unfortunately, the author felt the need to put a link to his website on almost every other page, making it feel too self-promotional. In fact, by the end of the book, Rognerud just slaps a banner at the end of each chapter and tells readers to visit his site, in addition to calls to action to visit his site throughout the book.
Also, the book is outdated, especially for a new edition being published as late as February 2014. Google Website Optimizer is gone, for one. There are a couple of other tools that are also mentioned that have either gone away, been renamed, or have been changed drastically.
In summary, feel free to get the book if you're just beginning in internet marketing. If you're looking for a more advanced SEO discussion, get the "Ultimate Guide to Link Building," or "Inbound Marketing and SEO."
