Stewart Drummond scored a stoppage-time equaliser to earn Chester a replay in the FA Cup at Cheltenham. The Robins took a two-goal lead with two penalties, the first converted by John Melligan and the second by John Finnigan with 11 minutes left.
But a minute later Marcus Richardson headed past Scott Brown after a cross from Tom Curtis.
And Drummond then struck his dramatic equaliser, scoring from eight yards after a cross from Carl Regan.
Cheltenham's first penalty was awarded for a handball by David Artell and the second for a handball by Ben Davies.
Prior to the first decision Chester keeper Stephane Gillet had pulled off a fine double save to deny Gavin Caines and Kayode Odejayi.
Drummond's late strike sparked wild scenes of jubilation from the 800 visiting fans.
But with six minutes of injury-time played Cheltenham almost snatched a dramatic winner, Brian Wilson's shot flying narrowly over the crossbar.
