Notes and Records of the Royal Society of London

The Journal Books and the Council Minutes of the Society as well as the manuscript records that are preserved in our Library contain a rich collection of material illustrating the opinions, ideals and achievements of the small body of men who in the seventeenth century were drawn together by a common desire to advance Natural Knowledge. With its aid we may follow the history of science through nearly three centuries which have passed since Charles II gave to the Society its Charter of Incorporation in 1662. Under this it has grown from small beginnings until it has become an institution of high standing in international science.
