KIDS are often the harshest critics.

And by the crowd’s reaction at Hi-5’s CD launch in Sydney yesterday, the group’s newest member Sun Park was a good choice.

“I was surprisingly nervous,” said Korean-born Park at the launch at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum.

“My mum was in the crowd, so maybe that’s why.”

Hi-5, which claims a global viewing audience of more than five million, is now in its eighth season and the group is preparing to shoot the ninth.

The show airs in 81 territories, 79 with the Australian cast. Canada and the US are covered by an all-American Hi-5 cast.

Park has been working with the children’s group for three months, taking over from pregnant Kathleen de Leon while she’s on maternity leave.

The 25-year-old Park had to undergo a gruelling seven-hour audition to secure the gig and join original members Nathan Foley, Kellie Hoggart, Tim Harding and Charli Delaney.
