Newcastle and Hunter road closures, hazards and flooding | Monday March 22
- LAST UPDATED MONDAY 3PM
Here are the latest road closures due to the current weather event. Emergency services have advised Hunter residents to delay all non-essential travel. A severe weather warning remains in place for some parts of the region.
NEWCASTLE AIRPORT CLOSED
As of 6.10pm Sunday flights in and out of Newcastle Airport have been suspended, due to local flooding of the airfield.
Given the condition of the runway and an unfavourable weather forecast, the closure is currently scheduled to remain in place until Midday Wednesday, 24 March.
Regular assessments of the airfield, will however, take place between now and then and may result in an earlier resumption of flights. All people booked or looking to fly between Sunday evening and Midday Wednesday should contact their airline directly for more details.
