Blessed thistle agronomic and phytochemical response to nitrogen and plant density
2018, Industrial Crops and ProductsCitation Excerpt :All chemicals including, gallic acid, Folin-Ciocalteu reagent, quercetin and 2,4,6-Tris(2-pyridyl)-s-triazine(TPTZ) were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich Chemie GmbH (Munich, Germany) and Merck (Darmstadt, Germany). The cnicin content in aerial parts (leaf + stem + flower) of blessed thistle at the full flowering stage (growth-stage BBCH 65) was determined using the method described by Marchand et al (1983). One gram sample was extracted by sonication for 30 min with 15 ml of methanol and 2 ml of the extract was filtered through a millipore filter (0.45 μ).
