In 2024, CCTS reviewers continue to make outstanding contributions to the peer review process. They demonstrated professional effort and enthusiasm in their reviews and provided comments that genuinely help the authors to enhance their work.

Hereby, we would like to highlight some of our outstanding reviewers, with a brief interview of their thoughts and insights as a reviewer. Allow us to express our heartfelt gratitude for their tremendous effort and valuable contributions to the scientific process.

CCTS is officially indexed by Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)

On March 20th, 2024, a confirmation letter reached the editorial office of Current Challenges in Thoracic Surgery (CCTS) (Figure 1) that the journal has been selected for inclusion in the Web of Science™ (WoS). Articles published in CCTS after 2022, beginning with Vol 4, will be included in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), a product of WoS.

CCTS Annual Report 2023

We are pleased to present the 2023 Annual Report of Current Challenges in Thoracic Surgery (CCTS). The journal has shown its internationalized editorial board, authorship, and readership, stable number of publications, and steady growth in pageviews.

Recent Advances in Perioperative Care in Thoracic Surgery and Anesthesia

This series on “Recent Advances in Perioperative Care in Thoracic Surgery and Anesthesia” was edited by Dr. Jean Bussieres, Université Laval, Quebec City, Canada and Dr. George Rakovich, University of Montreal, Montréal, Canada. This series explores the challenges of perioperative care in thoracic surgery, with a focus on anesthesia, pain management, and enhanced recovery pathways for minimally invasive procedures.

Lung Transplant: Current Status and Challenges

This series on “Lung Transplant: Current Status and Challenges” was edited by Dr. George Makdisi, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Transplantation, Morsani College of Medicine, Tampa, FL, USA. This series covered the most significant and challenging issues regarding lung transplant and included renowned experts from different medical centers in the US to share their knowledge and experience.

Comprehensive Lung Cancer Care: A Continuum (Ongoing)

The series on “Comprehensive Lung Cancer Care: A Continuum” is edited by Dr. Donna E. Maziak from Surgical Oncology, Division of Thoracic Surgery, Ottawa Hospital-General Division, University of Ottawa (Ottawa, ON, Canada) and Dr. Patrick J. Villeneuve from Division of Thoracic Surgery, Ottawa Hospital, University of Ottawa (Ottawa, ON, Canada).
