The thesis is divided into two parts and it aims to explain the historical events related to the bibliographical collection of the ancient Jesuit College of Perugia. The first part focuses on the Jesuit librarian history and on the reconstruction of the historical events related to the library of the Perugian college. The institute, founded in 1552, was endowed with a library a few years after its foundation, enriching its collection through different books acquisition channels. The analysis, conducted on unpublished archival documents and published material, reconstructs the events of the library by entering the special case of Perugia in the broader spectrum of the Jesuit librarian history . In this way I tried to provide a model of historical research adaptable to the different librarian realities of the ancient Society of Jesus. The second part of the dissertation consists of the partial reconstruction of the library catalog.

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to discuss the impact of performance appraisal on the productivity levels of professional and para-professional librarians in selected academic and research libraries in Ghana, namely, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Building and Road Research Institute, Crop Research Institute and the Forestry Research Institute of Ghana of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research and the Kumasi Polytechnic. Design/methodology/approach – Both primary and secondary sources of data were used for the study. The primary data involved the use of a structured questionnaire to 60 respondents, but 50 of them, representing 83.3 per cent, responded. El articulo trata de la importancia del derecho a la informacion para la participacion democratica, un derecho que discurre principalmente a traves de los medios de comunicacion de masas, pero en el que estan implicados tambien las bibliotecas y los archivos. La consideracion de la informacion como mercancia y la mercantilizacion de los servicios publicos amenazan el derecho ciudadano a la informacion y, por tanto, deterioran la calidad de la democracia.

Las Jornadas, que celebran su segunda edición, están organizadas por el Grupo de Trabajo de Patrimonio Bibliográfico de REBIUN y la Universidade de Santiago de Compostela y nacieron con la vocación de servir de foro para la presentación y el debate entre especialistas de diferentes instituciones sobre los diversos aspectos de la gestión de las colecciones patrimoniales en bibliotecas históricas y de las colecciones especiales en bibliotecas y/o archivos.
Están dirigidas a profesionales del ámbito de bibliotecas, archivos, restauración, documentación, investigación, mercado editorial y toda persona interesada en la gestión del patrimonio bibliográfico.

The study focused on the identification of the capacity building needs of lecturers of
Library and Information Science in the utilization of e-assessment in the processing of
students performance scores and documenting them in Government Universities in Abia
state. Three research questions guided the study. Survey research design was involved in
the study. The study was carried out in Abia State with a population of 57 made up of
32lecturers of LIS in these Universities and 25 computer specialists. There was no
sampling of the population because of the small and manageable size. Questionnaire was
the instrument used for data collection and was face validated by three experts from the
Department of Library and Information Science, Michael Okpara University of
Agriculture, Umudike. The reliability of the instrument was determined using split half
and product moment correlation method with a coefficient of 0.80. Fifty seven copies of the
questionnaire was administered on the respondents with the help of three assistants. The
entire copies administered were retrieved and analyzed. The weighted mean, standard
deviation and Improvement Needed Index were used to answer the research questions. It
was found out that teachers required 17 competencies in correct typing positions and
typing the keys of the computer; 20 competencies in creating templates for data processing
and 18 competencies for entering data, saving and documentation. It was also found out
that the lecturers needed capacity building in 55 competencies in e-assessment for
effectiveness in processing students' performance scores and documenting them. It was
recommended that the findings of this study be organized into intervention programmes by
the University stakeholders and utilized for capacity building in e-assessment effectivenes for lecturers

Reading plays an integral part in the education of individuals, especially children and young adults. It is defned as a basic life skill, a cornerstone for a child’s success in school, and indeed throughout the life. Reading is so important that it cannot be eliminated from the education process. Therefore, reading is vital for the individual in different ways. Different people read for diverse purposes, like formal education, entertainment, informal education, obtaining social knowledge, professional development, etc.

Introduction:  This paper will present a study that explores the way in which librarians in Turkey use their knowledge and evidence upon which to base their decision making.
Method: One method is to carry out a questionnaire of literature on the subject. The other method is to use analytical data by interviewing library managers.
Analysis: The problem of the lack of recognition of the Evidence-Based Library Management (EBLM) concept in Turkey can result particularly in Library managers making uninformed decisions based on on-trend practices.
Results:. This study has found that managers and executives of Turkish libraries have inadequate knowledge of the EBLM concept. Library managers need to consider and plan for practical steps that could be taken to introduce the concept of evidence based practice in their decision-making process. 
Conclusion: Library managers will have to be able to learn to change from a culture of institution-based decision making to an evidence-based decision making process based on analytics and concrete results.

With large-scale scholarly projects dedicated to digitizing print-based magazines and a concurrent turn towards digital mapping and data visualization, periodicals that were once accessible only in the archive now have the capacity to reach a wider audience, and make visible previously overlooked networks and connections enacted within and across the magazines. International Perspectives on Publishing Platforms: Image, Object, Text offers a unique contribution to the field of periodical studies, while also broadening the scope of purview to consider related content with regards to other relevant printed matter and cultural products, as well as digital archiving strategies. The internet has revolutionized the way people access information and has opened new possibilities in areas such as digital libraries, virtual libraries, scientific information retrieval, and dissemination. The present study has been carried out for the purpose of taking into account the use of the internet by the students of SCMS, Jain University library, Bangalore. The objective is to know the usage of internet resources by the students for their study and research. A well- structured questionnaire was distributed among the students to find out the use of internet facility and their services and resources. It also covers the problems faced by internet users.

Academic libraries are facing times of unprecedented challenge and unparalleled change. Innovation has moved from a consideration to a necessity. And yet, academic libraries continue to operate in a climate of declining budgets and increasing costs. In such a resource-scarce environment, academic library leaders are under pressure to make wise decisions in regards to how innovations are adopted and implemented in their libraries. To help inform these decisions and to highlight areas of future research, this study reviews the literature on academic libraries and innovation. The information presented will assist library leaders in making decisions that affect innovation and it will highlight areas for further research. While there has been an uptick in the number of high quality studies on this topic since 2010, significant research remains to be done if the literature is going to help chart the direction for innovation in academic libraries.

Libraries have a societal purpose and this role has become increasingly important as new technologies enable organizations to support, enable and enhance the participation of users in assuming an active role in the creation and communication of information. Folksonomies, a Web 2.0 technology, represent such an example. Folksonomies result from individuals freely tagging resources available to them on a computer network. In a library environment folksonomies have the potential of overcoming certain limitations of traditional classification systems such as the Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH). Typical limitations of this type of classification systems include, for example, the rigidity of the underlying taxonomical structures and the difficulty of introducing change in the categories. Folksonomies represent a supporting technology to existing classification systems helping to describe library resources more flexibly, dynamically and openly. As a review of the current literature shows, the adoption of folksonomies in libraries is novel and limited research has been carried out in the area. This paper presents research into the adoption of folksonomies for a University library. A Web 2.0 system was developed, based on the requirements collected from library stakeholders, and integrated with the existing library computer system. An evaluation of the work was carried out in the form of a survey in order to understand the possible reactions of users to folksonomies as well as the effects on their behavior. The broad conclusion of this work is that folksonomies seem to have a beneficial effect on users’ involvement as active library participants as well as encourage users to browse the catalogue in more depth.

This study sought to examine the experiences by students with disabilities in accessing the library at Zimbabwe Open University, Bulawayo Campus.The survey design was used to examine the experiences of students with disabilities in accessing library services at Zimbabwe Open University library.The sample for this study consisted of twenty-five students with disabilities who have access to Zimbabwe Open University library and ten library staff members who are in contact with the students. These participants were used in this study because they have experiences on how students are accessing library facilities at Zimbabwe Open University library. Questionnaires were used in this research in an effort to reach the respondents.The respondents indicated that, the entrance, restrooms, stairs, elevators and special rooms of the library are not easily accessible to students with disabilities.
