Hezbollah is the archetype and so far the most important and efficient of all Iranian proxy forces in the Middle East, and it demonstrates all the traits that eventually became the trademarks of Iran’s proxy networks in Iraq, Syria, Yemen and beyond. While embedding itself in the national government of Lebanon, Hezbollah receives its portfolio from Tehran and advances the agenda of the Islamist regime of Iran. While pressing the regime’s interests at the expense of the West and its regional allies through widespread terrorism and proxy warfare, Hezbollah provides Tehran with just enough plausible deniability to still appear as a somewhat “respectable actor” on the world stage.

Theological Instructions – Ayatollah Misbah Yazdi

Synopsis: This is a must read for every muslim to aid in the development of their theological understanding of the religion of Islam.

The article is devoted to the analysis of non-violent elements in the anti-terrorist approach of Saudi Arabia at the present stage. The article consists of three thematic parts. First of all, the authors considered several main factors, leading to the radicalization of the partisans of political Islam. Second, they pointed out some preventive measures that could prevent the dissemination of radical ideas among the Muslim population. The final stage was the consideration of the direct deradicalization program used by Saudi Arabia against those accused of religious terrorism and extremism. The analysis, which had been made, showed that the program of deradicalization used in Saudi Arabia had demonstrated quite impressive results. Apparently, Saudi Arabia is seriously trying to play a leading role in the middle East, strengthening its position not only through military operations against Islamist radicalism, but also paying great attention to the reasons for the growth of radical convictions among the Islamist groups in the region.

The aim of the present paper is to examine how the German Alevi community developed, how it was possible for it to be recognized as religious group, and how in return the Turkish Alevi responded to that achievement in Germany. The paper does this by arguing that three decisive elements were necessary for the “German achievement”: The pogroms, the Alevi self-redefinition (in their inner and outer diaspora), and the internal German political opportunity. Thus the second foothold of Alevism in Germany provides a powerful mean of (external) pressure to influence the Turkish state from outside to give Alevism in Turkey recognition to some degree.

The prophet of Islam has prescribed these five things as the foundation of Islam and they are: Faith, prayer, fasting, Zakat and Hajj for the Sunnis and prayer, fasting, Zakat, Hajj and Imamate for Shia. These five things contain the totality of the religion of Islam as we shall see.

Shi'a Muslim populations constitute a majority sectarian community in a number of nations.. Although exact population figures are difficult to ascertain, they are a majority or significant plurality in the following nations: Iran, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Yemen and Lebanon. In addition, Shi’a Muslims are a significant minority in  several states, including such surprising areas as Albania, Senegal and Nigeria. For the purpose of this
discussion I include all branches of Shi’ism. It is noteworthy that Shi’a Muslims constitute a similar percentage of the Muslim populations of many states (10-15%) as diverse as Afghanistan, Germany, Great Britain,
India, Turkey and the United States

When there is a dearth of information about a given author or compiler in biographical sources, one of the ways in which clues about his worldview is attained is through scrutinizing his work. Generally, what an author writes manifests his thoughts and beliefs. When it comes to ḥadīth compilations, the traditions that a compiler chooses to include in his work also portrays his own opinions and those that were prevalent during his time. In this paper, we will attempt to show how the process of deciphering a ḥadīth compiler's creed and understanding his milieu is not as straightforward as it seems. To do this, we will examine the 5th Century AH ḥadīth compilation of al-Ḥākim al-Ḥaskānī before trying to determine his confessional identity and learn a little about his era. Close reading and literary analysis is essential if one wishes to learn more about a literary text than what is apparent. To delve into the 'soul' of the text as it were, and try to discover what lies behind the words-not only its deeper meaning, but also what was going through the mind of the author, requires this kind of close reading. When it comes to ḥadīth texts, however, the issue becomes much more complicated. Since the aḥādīth are actually spoken by someone else (the Infallible) and conveyed by a chain of narrators, it would be almost impossible to attain an accurate understanding of the original speaker's thoughts and feelings unless they are made clear within the conveyed words. Even then, we would have to be certain that the words have been transmitted verbatim, without any changes whatsoever. Nevertheless, there is something to be said about the choices made by the compilers of ḥadīth regarding the traditions they decide to include within their collections.

Viewing Iraq from the outside is made easier by compartmentalising its people (at least the Arabs among them) into Shi'as and Sunnis. But can such broad terms, inherently resistant to accurate quantification, description and definition, ever be a useful reflection of any society? If not, are we to discard the terms 'Shi'a' and 'Sunni' in seeking to understand Iraq? Or are we to deny their relevance and ignore them when considering Iraqi society? How are we to view the common Iraqi injunction that 'we are all brothers' or that 'we have no Shi'as and Sunnis' against the fact of sectarian civil war in 2006? Are they friends or enemies? Are they united or divided; indeed, are they Iraqis or are they Shi'as and Sunnis? Fanar Haddad provides the first comprehensive examination of sectarian relations and sectarian identities in Iraq. Rather than treating the subject by recourse to broad-based categorisation, his analysis recognises the inherent ambiguity of group identity. The salience of sectarian identity and views towards self and other are neither fixed nor constant; rather, they are part of a continuously fluctuating dynamic that sees the relevance of sectarian identity advancing and receding according to context and to wider socioeconomic and political conditions. What drives the salience of sectarian identity? How are sectarian identities negotiated in relation to Iraqi national identity and what role do sectarian identities play in the social and political lives of Iraqi Sunnis and Shi'as? These are some of the questions explored in this book with a particular focus on the two most significant turning points in modern Iraqi sectarian relations: the uprisings of March 1991 and the fall of the Ba'ath in 2003. Haddad explores how sectarian identities are negotiated and seeks finally to put to rest the alarmist and reductionist accounts that seek either to portray all things Iraqi in sectarian terms or to reduce sectarian identity to irrelevance.

Belief is directly related to aql (intellect) and all the processes of belief are done through aql. From books you can only learn about the details of belief and obtain a brief idea of what belief is. You cannot gain full knowledge of what is belief from books alone. You have to think deeply about what is being said in the books, and then you will be able to obtain full belief. Books are dependent upon the level of intellect and understanding of the reader. It is worthy to note that one cannot gain aql (intellect) from knowledge but one can gain knowledge from aql. However, as long as one continues to gain knowledge then one’s intellect will also automatically increase. It is the same as if a machine is left unused. It will eventually become old and rusted. If you use it properly, then it will work with absolutely no problems. This is the golden principle which should be adopted for beliefs. If it was meant for us to simply believe based upon what we read from a book or from what we hear others saying, then why did Allah swt give us intellect and reasoning as humans? Otherwise we would be the same as the animals and intellect would have no purpose of being in us. This is the common opinion about beliefs. As far as the Shia religion is concerned, it has more responsibilities due to its historical background which is totally different than other sects in Islam. The Shia religion has had to face such difficulties in all times......

With the re-establishment of Bashar al-Assad’s power in Syria, the strengthening of Hezbollah in Lebanon, and finally the political and military victory of pro-Iranian forces in Iraq, it is clear that an Iranian axis now prevails in the Levant. The strength of this geopolitical axis is reinforced by the territorial continuity between Tehran and Beirut via Damascus and Baghdad: “the Iranian land bridge” or “Iranian corridor,” controlled by Iranian troops directly and by proxies.

After conquering large swaths of Syria and Iraq, the IS undertook an aggressive sectarian campaign in which they not only enacted horrific violence against the Shia people, but also damaged or destroyed several key Shia mosques and shrines. Drawing on Social Movement Theory (SMT), this article analyzes the response by various Shia nonstate actors—militia leaders, religious clergymen, populist preachers, and seminal poets. It argues that they used the IS threat to Shia holy sites to develop and deploy a mobilization frame that has come to be referred to as the “shrine protection narrative.” The article also documents the manifold consequences of the shrine protection narrative: it underpinned a mass recruitment drive that saw tens of thousands enlist; it legitimized foreign Shia militias to enter the conflicts in both Syria and Iraq; it justified the formation of entirely new militias who declared the centrality of shrine protection to their mandate; and it mobilized them to enact political violence. In doing so, this article extends existing studies of SMT to demonstrate that “sacred spaces”—and particularly the need to protect religious sites from specific threats—can serve as a powerful mobilization frame towards political violence.

Muslim disunity is a direct result of not realizing Prophet's will by the early elites of the Umayyads. The Prophet's last will was to be written and it was to mention his successors and many other things, as indicated by many hadiths and Quranic texts. The last will was to establish the imamate of twelve leaders much like the twelve judges of the Israelites, having religious and political powers.

The significance of religion and concepts of al-ghaib (the invisible and unknowable) and sanctity in a materialistically oriented and globally dominant and changing world has been a nexus of current debates in Orthodox Islam. The concept of al-ghaib is a fundamental principle in Islamic theology; however, it has a profound impact on Muslim's daily lives. Thenceforth, this study focuses on the concepts of al-ghaib, or invisibility, sanctity, and imagination, as reflected in ordinary Muslims' views and key practices aimed at disclosing the unknown and unseen. This article presents an anthropological holistic insight incorporating objective description and subjective interpretation and as such comprises a phenomenological hermeneutic inquiry. Drawing on ethnographic studies conducted in communities belonging to Bahrain (predominantly Shi'a) and Egypt (predominantly Sunni), this inquiry aims at exploring the relationships between the Islamic sacred conviction of al-ghaib and everyday practices of Muslim communities. These ethnographic accounts are examined and compared with scholarly literature and cross-cultural materials.

This paper seeks to explore into the Shi'ī religion (شیعہ), particularly the philosophy behind the formation of the group and the subsequently developed theology on the foundation of that philosophy. The paper presents a balanced view of the Shia faith from a Sunnī perspective. The critique, as it is intended to be one towards its conclusion, attempts to engage with the Shia theology and is, at times, also compared with the Sunnī theology and religious view of history.

This study analyzes the political reasons that allowed the Islamic State to expand successfully in Syria and Iraq, by enabling to ‘franchise’ worldwide, and the role of the regional governments in this issue. The essay provides a different explanation from the classic approach of the “clash of civilizations” theorized by Samuel P. Huntington, ascribing responsibility for the growth and expansion of the Islamic State to the complex framework of geopolitical alliances within the Muslim civilization and the Arab world. The paper highlights the attempt by Turkey to establish itself as a regional power and guidance of the Islamic world, by resurrecting the Caliphate, and, based on this, explains the contrast with the Islamic State, which goal is the foundation of a globalized Caliphate. The plans of the Turkish President Erdoğan for a Great Turkey, allied with Egypt, have foundered with the coup that ousted the Muslim Brotherhood from power. The study relates the connection of Ankara with the Kurds, regarding the management of the crisis in Syria and Iraq, and the Turkish liaison with regional powers (Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Israel) and other powers (Russia, Cina and USA).

The Khojas were described by various 19th century commentators as Hindu, Muslim, Sunni and Shi’a. In 1866, a single court case, published serially in the English language newspapers of Bombay, imprinted upon them, a singular identity. This MA thesis explores the ways that their tradition was debated and contested under the watchful eye of the British Indian colonial court.

Infallibility or ʿiṣmah is a long- debated issue in the Islamic intellectual history. Major sects like Ahl al-Sunnah and Shīʿah have pronounced their view on the topic. Broadly speaking, the discussion runs in two ways. [1] Infallibility of the Prophets and [2] infallibility of the Imāms. Whereas all sects generally confirm the infallibility of the Prophets, they have serious disagreement over the status of the latter. In opposite to other all other sects, the Shīʿites argue for the infallibility of the Imāms. Both groups strengthens their views based on the Qurʾān, Ḥadīth and reason. Hence, the discussion progresses in two categories; the first being on the view of the Sunnites and the Shiites on the infallibility of the Prophets which is unanimously agreed by both groups, though they hold divergence in detail; and the second on the infallibility of the imams in the Shīʿite tradition incorporated with an analysis of the view of the Sunnite scholars on the issue.

Tehran’s long-term strategy to fortify the Iranian Corridor as a Shiite Crescent requires demographic reengineering. Iran and its allies must be able to rely on a loyal population because of the solidarity it provides at the sectarian level. The attempt to reduce the Sunni numerical advantage is real, but it has had limited results. Even, if viewing the Levant as largely Sunni dominated is a mistake, it seems difficult for Iran to reverse the demographic balance. In contrast, the strategy of promoting internal division among the Sunni promises to be more effective.

Dalam agama Islam ada dua jenis kitab rujukan yang diapakai sebagai seumber hukum yakni Al-Qur'an dan Hadis. Dalam tulisan ini, penulis hanya akan terfokus dalam pembahasan tentang rujukan Islam yang kedua yaitu Hadis. Hadis dijadikan sebagai rujukan dikarenakan Hadis merupakan perkataan, perbuatan dan juga perbuatan yang dilakukan oleh sahabat dan dibolehkan oleh Rasulullah Saw. Hadis berisikan pedoman-pedoman dalam hal Akidah, Ibadah dan Muammalah. Tetapi tidak semua hadis dapat digunakan sebagai pedoman. Ada kriteria atau klasifikasi hadis yang bisa dijadikan rujukan sehinggah hadis tersebut dikatan shahih dan dapat dijadikan peoman. Keshahihan hadis merupakan syarat utama agar bisa diterima dan diaplikasikan. Ulama hadis telah memberikan petunjuk kriteria keshahihan hadis yang bisa dijadikan hujjah. Kriteria tersebut sangat beragam, karena ulama hadis berbeda-beda dalam menetapkannya. Secara umum, ada dua kelompok dalam Islam yang menetapkan kriteria keshahihan hadis. Kedua kelompok tersebut adalah Sunni dan Syiah. Dalam kelompok Sunni, terdapat juga ragam pendapat tentang keshahihan hadis, begitu pula pada kelompok Syiah. Tulisan ini akan difokuskan pada bagaimana cara pengklasifikasian dan persyaratan shahih atau tidaknya suatu hadis dalam pandangan Sunni dan Syi'ah. Hadis Dalam Pandangan Sunni dan Syi'ah Di kalangan Sunni, hadis meliputi perkataan, perbuatan, taqrir, sifat, baik fisik dan akhlak, dan perilaku Nabi. Dari definisi hadis yang ditetapkan Sunni ini, memberikan batasan tentang segala sesuatu yang berasal dari Nabi Muhammad saw., sekaligus adanya anggapan bahwa wahyu telah terhenti setelah wafatnya Nabi Muhammad saw. Dengan demikian apapun yang bersumber dari Nabi dapat dijadikan dasar hukum dan sekaligus sumber ajaran Islam. Sebaliknya apapun yang tidak bersumber langsung dari Nabi bukan termasuk hadis, dan karenanya tidak wajib diikuti dan tidak dapat dijadikan dasar hukum apalagi dijadikan sebagai sumber ajaran Islam. Dengan demikian sumber utama yang dapat mengeluarkan hadis menurut Sunni hanya Nabi Muhammad saw.

XX. yüzyılın ortalarından günümüze kadar sosyal, siyasal ve dinî zeminde Lübnan’ın yanı sıra geniş bir coğrafyada Müslümanlar üzerinde etkili şahsiyetlerden birisi olan Muhammed Hüseyin Fadlallah, Ayetullahi’l-Uzmâ makamına yükselmiş Şiî bir din alimi olmakla birlikte bölgenin en önemli problem kaynağı olan İsrail’e karşı mücadele eden Hizbullah için manevî bir lider ve  farklı inanç ve görüşteki insanların birlikte yaşama erdemliliğine ulaşabilmeleri için önemli adımlar atmış vahdetçi bir aktivist düşünürdür.
Bu çalışmada Fadlallah’ın çocukluk evresinden vefatına kadar hayat serüveni ele alınarak onun bu süreç içerisindeki faaliyetleri ve etkileri değerlendirilmiştir. Bu bağlamda Fadlallah’ın Lübnan’daki Şiî gruplarla ve Hizbullah hareketiyle ilişkisi, İsrail/Amerika-Lübnan hükûmetleri arasında kurulan ilişkilere karşı tavrı, Lübnan iç savaşı ve İsrail’in Lübnan’ı işgal girişimlerine karşı duruşu, ilmî hayatı, dinî davet öğretisi, vahdet arayışı, İslamî hareketler hakkında değerlendirme ve yönlendirmeleri, sosyal faaliyetleri, siyasal söylemleri ve tesirleri ele alınarak onun dinî ve siyasî kişiliği ortaya çıkarılmaya çalışılmıştır.

Muhammed Hussain Fadlallah, who was one of the influential figures on Muslims in the social, political and religious area in worldwide as well as Lebanon, from the middle of the 20th century to the present day, was a Shiite religious scholar who had risen to “Ayatullah al-Uzma” degree, a spiritual leader of Hezbollah, which had been fighting against Israel that was the region's most important source of problems, a man who advocated the unity of people who belived different faiths and views.
In this study, the life adventure of Fadlallah from childhood to his death was discussed and his activities and effects in this process were evaluated. In this context, Fadlallah's relationship with the Lebanese Shiite and Hezbollah movement in Lebanon, opinions about the relationship between the Israeli / American - Lebanese governments, the position in the Lebanese civil war, the position of Israel’s attempts to invade Lebanon, his scientific life, religious invitation teachings , his doctrine of unity and assesments and orientations of the Islamic movements, social activities, political discourses and influences were examined.

İranlı genç araştırmacı Hüsameddin Ferzizade'nin Safevi Şiiliği ve Emevi Sünniliğini eleştirdiği kitabı İran'da idama mahkum olmasına sebep oldu.
Ferzizâde’nin kitapta da ifade ettiği gibi kendisi Ayetullahuzma Burkâi ve Ayetullah Herkani’nin ilmi araştırmalarından etkilenmiş, Şiiliği kökten eleştiriye tabi tutmuştur. Ferzizâde’nin elinizdeki kitapta işlediği temel tez, İslam’ın Kur’ân merkezli / Vahiy ölçüsünde anlaşılması gerektiği, tüm geleneksel mirasın da ancak Kur’ân’ın Furkân ölçüsünden olumlu not aldığında kabul edilebileceğidir.

“İslam’dan İslam’a” Şiilik ve Sünniliğin tarihsel süreç içerisinde üretilen sahte hadis rivayetleri aracılığıyla Kur’anî ölçüden koptuğunu iddia eder. Yazar, Şiilik ve Sünnilik’ten daha erken dönemde sistematikleşmesi dolayısıyla İbâdî mezhebinin daha arı-duru, Kur’ân’a uygun bir anlayışa sahip olduğunu savunur.

This dissertation talks about the history of the challenging nature of the conflict between Shias (Shiites), Sunnis and Yazidis that theologians, historians, social and political scientists of the world are facing these days in the Middle East, with a special focus on northern Iraq (Kurdistan). It explores the way these three groups have engaged with each other over the years. Broadly, the literature used in this dissertation articulates that Shias and Sunnis, being the major political, religious and social force of the region, have always dominated, exploited and persecuted Yazidis, but this study transverses the history through literature and empirical experiences to find out the cause and effect of the conflict. It digs deeper into the physical, emotional and strategic struggles of these opposing groups that affected their past, is affecting their present and will affect their future. For ages, the blame games of conventional domestic structures and fascist ideologies have damaged all the parties and especially the weaker ones. They are often pushed against the wall, and have faced discrimination and even ethnic cleansing. This study aims to focus on the reason or force behind the conflict and what impact it has left on the regional peace and the peace process around the globe. This interdisciplinary research highlights and inquires the nature of this conflict and the interrelationship between political, religious and social forces of the region that have reached to this extreme where not only the regional peace has perished, but the international peace is also in jeopardy.

The analysis of foreign policies of the Middle Eastern countries on the axis of sectarian differences and the tendency to show that the political polarity among countries in the region as a sectarian tension might make it difficult to comprehend real reasons of their policies. Although economic, historical and social data are used to mobilize the masses through sectarian approach, the relation between interests and power still keeps its value in foreign policies of the countries in the region. In this study it is propounded that how Iran, as a significant country of the region, uses the sectarian differences in its Middle East policy aimed at being the leader of the Islamic World. Developments in the Middle East are, in essence, seen as revenge-driven energy geopolitics. But it is belied through the Sunni-Shia opposition on Shiite ground conducted by Iran.

İRAN'IN ORTADOĞU POLİTİKASI
Özet
Ortadoğu ülkelerinin dış politikalarının mezhep farklılığı ekseninde analizi ve bölge ülkeleri arasındaki siyasi kutuplaşmayı mezhepsel bir gerilim olarak gösterme eğilimi, bu ülkelerin politikalarının gerçek nedenlerinin anlaşılmasını güçleştirmektedir. Tarihsel, sosyal ve ekonomik veriler mezhepçi yaklaşımla kitleleri harekete geçirme amacıyla kullanılsa da çıkar ve güç ilişkisi, bölgedeki ülkelerin dış politikalarında önemini hala korumaktadır. Bu çalışmada bölgenin önemli bir ülkesi olan İran'ın, İslam dünyasının lider ülkesi olmaya yönelik Ortadoğu politikasında mezhepsel farklılığı nasıl kullandığı ortaya konulmaktadır. Ortadoğu'da yaşanan gelişmeler, özünde jeopolitik enerji odaklı bir hesaplaşma olarak görülmelidir. Sünni-Şii karşıtlığı üzerinden maskelenen bu hamle, İran eliyle Şii zeminde gerçekleştirilmektedir.

Sunni and Shia laws of inheritance are different in their foundational structure as well as detailed implications, though the both are inspired from the Quranic verses of inheritance. Owing to the fact that Sunnis are in majority in Pakistan, their law of inheritance is relatively well appreciated by lawyers and students of law, while Shia law of inheritance does not have such an advantage. The paper aims to present in a simplified manner the salient features of Shia law of inheritance so that the same may become comprehensible to anyone who is new to this field but interested to develop his skills further. The paper does not explain Sunni law of inheritance in detail and assumes that the reader would be conversant with it. While explaining the salient features of Shia law, it compares them with corresponding features of Sunni law. The paper illustrates how these features are instrumental in conferring different shares to legal heirs in Shia and Sunni schemes of inheritance. There is also an elaboration of the space which is shared by the both legally different traditions of inheritance in Islam.

و یذكر أن هذه المجموعات المتطرّفة تتمتّع بالدعم  المالي والفقهی  من قبل الوهابية و السلفية التكفيرية بعد إضفاء الطابع المؤسسي على العنف في هذة المنطقة. و عمدت هذة المجموعات الي ممارسة العنف و تصويب سهامها الی معارضيها في الرأي و خاصة الإمامية إمّا  بشكل عمدي او لوجود خطا في نظرتها حيث الأولويات الاستراتيجية الخاصة بها. و إن کثیرا ممن ینتحلون صفة رجال الدين  يقومون باستغلال جهل عوام الناس فيقومون بإصدار الفتاوی التي يحللّون فيها دماءالمسلمين و اموالهم بشكل عام و شيعة أهل البیت (ع) بشكل خاص.
و في نفس الوقت، تقوم مجموعة من هولاء بإثارة الشبهات وتسليط الضوء عليها  حول مذهب أهل البيت (ع) ممّا یؤدّي إلى إشعال نار الفرقة بين المسلمين. لذلك فمن الواجب على كل مسلم غيور ان يكون واعيا و ملتفتا لحركة هولاء والسعی للوقوف بوجه إثاره هذه التهم و الشبهات في الوقت و تقديم الأجوبة علی جميع الشبهات التي تثير هنا و هناك. و كان الهدف من تأليف هذاالكتاب هو إلقاءالضوء علی  الشبهات التي تثار حول الشيعة والاجابة عليها. وقام الكتاب بالردّ علي 60 شبهة أثيرت حول مذهب اهل البيت (ع) حيث اعتمد الكتاب في الاجوبة علي موقع آية الله العظمي الشيخ مكارم شيرازي. نأمل ان يستفيد منه الأساتذه و الباحثون و طلاب الحقيقة.. و هي خطوة قصيرة لأجل التقريب بين المذاهب الاسلامية.

Boris Havel, docent na Fakultetu političkih znanosti u Zagrebu, stručnjak za Bliski istok, jedan od najboljih poznavatelja geneze političkog islama, doktrine koja je u novije vrijeme najmalignije oblike poprimila u terorističkoj organizaciji Islamska država, specijalno za Globus napisao je trodijelnu studiju o sunitima i šijitima, dvjema sljedbama u islamu što međusobnom nepomirljivošću trajno dijele svjetsku muslimansku zajednicu. Havel zadire do najdubljih korijena toga tisućljetnog sukoba i potanko tumači kako su se prvobitni nesporazumi i razmirice, posve svjetovne naravi, među sljedbenicima proroka Muhameda prometnuli u vjerski rat bez kraja. Razumijevanje uzroka sunitsko-šijitskog sukoba, upozorava autor, ključ je za razumijevanje glavnine bliskoistočnih sukoba, a upravo je taj aspekt vrlo često podcijenjen ili potpuno marginaliziran u razmatranjima zapadnih politologa i političkih analitičara. U prvome dijelu feljtona Havel rasvjetljuje političke prilike u Arabiji u. stoljeću nakon smrti proroka Muhameda te formiranje prvobitne muslimanske zajednice (ummet) u kojoj počinje nemilosrdna borba za vlast.
