This is the U.S. post office closing schedule for 2012. Most U.S. post office counters should be closed, and no regular mail delivery made on these dates.
Monday, January 2, 2012 - Day after New Year's (observed) Monday, January 16, 2012 - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (MLK Day) Monday, February 20, 2012 - President's Day Monday, May 28, 2012 - Memorial Day Wednesday, July 4, 2012 - Independence Day Monday, September 3, 2012 - Labor Day Monday, October 8, 2012 - Columbus Day Monday, November 12, 2012 - Day after Veterans Day (observed) Thursday, November 22, 2012 - Thanksgiving Day Tuesday, December 25, 2012 - Christmas Tuesday, January 1, 2013 - New Year's Day
Hold Mail or Redelivery cannot be scheduled to begin or end on the above USPS holiday dates.
NOTE: Although they strive for uniformity in their operating schedule, unforeseen circumstances, severe weather, fires, floods and other natural and manmade disasters can sometimes cause the temporary closure of post offices, or alter lobby hours beyond the scope of the above U.S. Postal Service holidays.
In some locations, when an additional surcharge is paid, Express Mail deliveries can be made even on the official U.S.P.S. shipping holidays listed above. But no regular mail delivery/pickup or retail services are available on Postal holidays.
