My original plan was to hike up to the Hut and use DER JOHANN KLETTERSTEIG (SÜDWANDKLETTERSTEIG), unfortunately forgot to pack a feratta kid and couldn’t pass the first section. The "Johann" has difficulty D/E on the cableroute difficulty range (from A to E), which means it is long, very exposed and strenuous. The advantage is: the most difficult part, an overhang, is at the very beginning of the route, Long Story short I had to return all the way to the Hut and take a more easier route up to Hunerscharte and the Glacier Route over to the Standard Route up to the Peak. Still a Cable Route but not as difficult as Johann and manageable. To sum it all up I had an amazing day despite the disappointment early in the day. Great weather and miles of view. On my return I took the Cable Car 🚠 to the Valley Floor.
