ICAB Business and Technology Incubator (ICAB)
ICAB Business and Technology Incubator offers an ideal work environment for innovative start-ups in the ICT and engineering sectors. ICAB is situated near the Brussels Humanities, Sciences & Engineering campus of the VUB at Etterbeek, on the Arsenaal site.
Bio-incubator
The VUB and VIB are partnering to build a bio-incubator on the VUB Brussels Humanities, Sciences and Engineering Campus. To this end, they have set up Bio Incubator Brussels bv. In this incubator, starting spin-offs will be able to develop during their first years in the close vicinity of research groups active in the life sciences.
Researchpark Zellik
The Researchpark Zellik is an area near the Brussels Ring, purchased by the Flemish Government in 1983 to attract high-tech or research-based companies. VUB was involved from the beginning to monitor the research character of the companies that applied for establishment. End of 2015 Flanders decided to give new impulses to this researchpark with Agentschap Innoveren en Ondernemen (VLAIO) as driving force.
In 2018 VUB TechTransfer supported the launch of a new project 'Green Energy Park', a CO2 neutral smart grid that is located in the researchpark Zellik and serves as a test-ground for innovative energy systems and electric mobility. This project is being developed by UZ Brussel, several VUB research groups and Flux50. In november 2021 the 'Smart Village Lab' was opened. This innovative living lab is the first physical realisation of the Green Energy Park and will investigate how living in the future can become smart, sustainable and energy-efficient.
