Great shoes that I hope last!

Great shoes that I hope last!
I've had these boots for a little less than a year. I bought them because I wanted to change my usual style a little, and these have ended up becoming my favorite shoes! They're very comfortable, for starters. When I first wore them they actually weren't the most comfortable at all, but after wearing them for a short shift on my feet, the sole had pretty much the same shape as my foot, so it feels very nice, even for long hours.I was worried I'd look like a clown with these, but I've actually received a lot of compliments on them! They look great, and if you think you can find an outfit for them to look good with, you definitely can. They seem very durable, too. Minor scrapes on real leather like this rub right off. Deeper ones may pose a problem, but I've personally had very few instances where they happen, and honestly, the more worn they get, the more character they have.I didn't expect these to become my go-to pair of shoes - I normally opt for Vans, and shoes of that type. But I find myself wearing these whenever weather permits! They're quite warm, which is great under the right circumstances. One other thing I should mention. Despite being boots, and despite having what appears to be a rugged grip, I've found that I slip very easily in these, which is a bit strange. The first time, I was walking on my driveway while it was raining and almost fell over. Walking into a store with linoleum while these aren't fully dried on the bottom is dangerous. To be clear: NOT with ice, with straight rain water. It's something I've had to be very careful about with these shoes, so beware.

Chukka is my style for work. I work in the Information Technology IT field so we are business casual everyday. I wore a tie for 30+ years so I will take the no tie, Chinos and Chukka Dress Code any day!

It appears to me that Timberland makes so many styles it is hard to get an understanding of all of them!

So I have for the past 30 days been reviewing Chukka Boots on the Internet and what is available in the Jackson, MS area where I live. I tried a pair of $250 Frye Boots from Belk, locally and they seemed to be made from very hard-leather and not comfortable to me at all so I returned them. I also returned a pair of UGG Slip On Chukka with buckle as they were too tight across the foot.

When I came across these Timberland Boots I thought... Now that is the most BEAUTIFUL Outdoors looking Boot I have ever seen! Yes, it was a Boot and not actually a Chukka, so I had to try them. After reading many reviews on this item on Amazon I determined the size to try. My show size is 10.5, but I normally wear 11 in Boots. Many reviews said go down a full size, but I thought that would probably be too dramatic, so I ordered a 10.5. They are too loose to wear with a thin sock. With a Medium Thickness Sock they fit very well. The first day of wearing I noticed they seemed a little loose. So I looked down at them and thought, I have the tied loosely. Let me tighten up the strings a little and see if that makes a difference. That did it!

And when it comes to strings, these Boots have an AWESOME set of Strings. I have never seen Strings like these. They are super long, super thick Round Nylon type Strings that have some pull-elasticity to them. So they are perfect for Boots like this and allow you to adjust the Boots to a custom fit. (You would just hope if you ever needed a replacement set of Strings that Timberland would make them available, because you would never find them at random. The Strings are very specialized.)

It did bother me to see in the reviews where some folks said the material of the sole is not of Vibreem quality and would wear out too soon. My thought on that is why would Timberland use anything but a high quality Vibreem sole on a nice pair of Boots like this? My wear will be light so I don't think this will be an issue for me. I will be wearing them to work in an Office. They may not hold up for heavy duty or outdoor use.

Finally I will say that the other thing that Timberland got right with these Boots is that they are authentic, outdoor looking boots, but they are very, very light. Maybe that is part of the reasoning on the sole material. Usually when you find an awesome look pair of Boots like this they are real heavy. Not these!

Over all considering the many Boots I have researched, these are unique, AWESOME LOOKING, and very comfortable to wear!

Finally, they look like a $350 pair of Boots but they cost much less!

Timberland... Keep making these Great Quality Products!!! (And make replacement strings available! ;-)

I've had these for about a month now. They are my very first pair of leather boots ever and I love them. I wanted one boot that I could wear for winter, hiking, and just because, and these fit the bill. They look really good and have held up well through several hikes of about five or six miles each. A couple of the hikes the weather was pretty wet and no moisture got in. Of course, the tongue is loose, so I'm sure stepping in a deep puddle or hanging out in a constant downpour will allow some water in. They are also quite comfortable. I even wore them for about 19 hours straight walking all over Munich, Germany. My feet were sore, of course, but not as sore as they've been after a day in my usual low-profile trainers.

The sizing, like everyone else says, is pretty large. I wear an eleven normally, but I went with a 10.5. Everyone said to go a size down, but my foot is a bit wide, so I thought I'd see how half a size went. Turns out I probably could have done with a size down, and maybe even a size and a half if I wanted a snug fit. But these were partly meant for hiking and for hiking you want your boots to fit just a bit large so you have plenty of toe room, so I've decided to stay with the 10.5, though if/when I buy another pair I might go down to 10.

I got them in burnished brown, which ended up being a dark reddish brown, which I actually prefer.

They were pretty much broken in and ready to wear right away, but have actually broken in even more. The leather is supple and comfortable. I've read some reviews saying that the sole wears out quickly, but that they would be happy to re-sole them. I haven't noticed any such wear yet, but if the boots last as long as I imagine they will, I'll be happy to re-sole them whenever. And I've never re-soled ANYTHING.

TL;DR, If you're looking for a good boot for light hikes that can also be worn on a night out on the town, look no further. Just go a size down.

I was hoping for a sturdier boot, but then those are the 'fashion' ones so I should have known...

They are light and super soft, I'm used to thick leather and boots that takes a month to break so that was nice...
The leather got quickly scored by walking in the woods and only two weeks in the left Soul lifted when I kicked in the dirt, I glued them with gorilla glue and held tight since...
Nice boots for around town and light homesteader, I had to go with the Red Wings Elk Hunters to do my homesteading, woodworking activities instead.
