Taxonomic note
Arachnothera affinis and A. modesta (del Hoyo and Collar 2016) were previously lumped as A. affinis following Sibley & Monroe (1990, 1993). A. everetti was previously split following Sibley & Monroe (1990, 1993) but is now lumped with A. affinis (del Hoyo and Collar 2016)

Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified. The species is described as uncommon on Borneo, but commoner on Java and Bali (del Hoyo et al. 2008).
