Subject: Rich in Details, Poor in Entertainment
The book achieved its aim to reveal the rich details of settings, of episodes and of persons involved in the calendar flipping towards World War I. Would serve excellently well for serious readers taking a course in history or any related research study. For a layman like me, I found myself ploughing through the narration which overwhelmed me with its many episodes and numerous historical personalities covering not few countries. For most parts I was dazed and lost. When I finally came to the last page, it was a relief to my mind. I've read a great book but felt no pleasure in the effort.
