MONTREAL — The CTV Television Network has picked up Canuck rights to three Nelvana-produced animated series, which will begin airing on the Canadian web in January.

All three series are part of the six-series Saturday-morning block that Nelvana produces for CBS in the U.S. The shows are “Birdz,” “Flying Rhino Junior High” and “Mythic Warriors.”

“We are delighted to begin a new relationship with CTV with these three series,” said Michael Hirsh, co-CEO of Nelvana. “We now have all the shows in the CBS Kidshow lineup available on Canadian television.”

About the three

“Birdz,” created by Nelvana helmer Larry Jacobs, follows the comic adventures of 12-year-old Eddie Storkowitz and his family of birds.

“Flying Rhino Junior High,” based on the books by Ray Nelson and Douglas Kelly, chronicles the tales of student Earl P. Sidebottom and his high school pals.

“Mythic Warriors” is an action-adventure anthology series based on the book series of the same name.

“This acquisition further enhances CTV’s strong children’s programming line-up,” said Susanne Boyce, senior veepee of programming at CTV.
