Look: Coventry's infamous chocolate brown kit named as the worst strip in English football history

But iconic 70s strip is something of a guilty pleasure for Sky Blues fans

Coventry City’s chocolate brown strip – first unveiled as a variation of the iconic Admiral tramline design in 1978 – has regularly been voted the biggest fashion crime in the history of British football.

And it's been named as the very worst again by The Sun this week.

It became something of a guilty pleasure for Sky Blues fans, however, and in 2009 the club produced a special-edition replica limited to 1,125 shirts to mark their 125th anniversary.

City wore it for their final home match of the season, but that proved something of a brown downer as Chris Coleman’s side surrendered a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 to Brendan Rodgers’ Watford and, for bad measure, had Danny Fox sent off in the closing stages.
