Three world heritage sites

The Stockholm region is home to three of Sweden’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites – spots judged as invaluable places that belong to all of humanity. Visiting Birka, Drottningholm or the Woodland Cemetery is like time traveling to three different periods in Sweden’s history: the age of the vikings, the imperial era and the 20th century.

You can meet Vikings after a boat ride on the sparkling waters of Lake Mälaren, see the 300 year-old theater machinery at Drottningholm palace theater, or stroll among architect Gunnar Asplund’s chapels in the world famous landscape behind the cemetery walls. All three of Stockholm’s World Heritage Sites are excellent choices for an excursion beyond the ordinary.
