Martin Stirling the winner of London Sci-Fi 48hr Film Challenge 2012 who is currently directing commercials and music promos whilst developing a slate of features will be interviewed about his career to date, how he got into the industry and his future projects.

Martin is the perfect example of the new ways aspiring filmmakers can break into the industry having gained success through many of new paths available to filmmakers, including winning short film and advertising competitions and gaining funding through organisations like Ideas Tap. Martin will talk about how he broke into the industry, how winning the coveted Sci-Fi London 48hr film challenge has propelled his career forward, the increased importance of young filmmakers building a career through winning short film competitions and the next steps he plans to take in his career.

His first short drama Flushed starred Jo Hartley (This Is England, Ill Manors), Danny Kirrane (Skins, The Inbetweeners) and Janet Montgomery (Black Swan, Entourage) and played at festivals worldwide.

His latest short Future.Inc recently won the grand prize at Sci-Fi London Film Festival 48 Hour Challenge and following the success of the film is now developing his debut feature film with Vertigo.

His commercial clients as a director include Honda, Fosters, Stella Artois, Colgate, Macleans, Doritos, Cornetto, Mentos, amongst others. He was long listed for the Cannes Lions Young Director Award this year.

He is currently being mentored by Oscar-winner Suzie Templeton and is an Associate Artist at the National Youth Theatre. Most recently he directed a digital episode of ‘Inside No. 9′, a new comedy series from Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton (League of Gentlemen, Psychoville).
