BBC2's Line of Duty beats Sherlock to Best Drama at Freesat 2014 awards
Full list of winners from Freesat’s sixth annual Free TV Awards which saw BBC2 drama Line of Duty win Best Drama.

Sherlock beaten to Best Drama by Line of Duty? Fans of the BBC1 phenomenon may find that hard to believe, but BBC2's gritty cop series starring Keeley Hawes was a popular winner at Freesat’s sixth annual Free TV Awards.
A very glam Keeley Hawes left the rather drab DI Lindsay Denton far behind as she took to the stage to collect the award. The judging panel commended Line of Duty for ‘breath-taking performances’ adding: “in a world of box sets, we enjoyed watching TV in the usual way, staying in every Wednesday night to find out what would happen next.”
The acclaimed cop drama beat BBC2’s psychological thriller The Fall (the breakthrough TV role for Jamie Dornan) starring Gillian Anderson, ITV’s Lucan and Scott & Bailey and the aforementioned Sherlock, headed by Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.
Other winners included Doctor Who - The Day of the Doctor, named Best of British TV programme or series and eclipsing the likes of Sherlock (it really wasn’t their night) and Downton Abbey.
Ant and Dec picked up more awards, further cementing their place as the nation's favourite TV personalities and Educating Yorkshire walked away with Best Factual, in a field dominated by Channel 4 contributions (it was up against Gogglebox, Benefits Street, The Murder Trial and BBC2's Sincerely, F Scott Fitzgerald.

The Wrong Mans took Best TV Sitcom, with James Corden and Mathew Baynton delivering the most entertaining speech thanks to their insistence on punctuating each mention with music stings. Coronation Street triumphed as Best British TV Soap in a category voted for by the public.
