Netflix just scored a remarkable 31 Emmy nominations

Netflix 2014 Emmy Nominations

It hasn’t taken long for Netflix to establish itself as a very respectable original content producer. Business Insider brings us word that Netflix’s original series have been nominated for 31 different Emmy awards this year, led by its two smash-hit shows House of Cards and Orange is the New Black

House of Cards got nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series and Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series, among many others. House of Cards stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright also got well deserved nods for Outstanding Lead Actor and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, respectively.

Orange is the New Black, meanwhile, similarly dominated the award nominations for comedies, earning nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing For A Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing For A Comedy Series, with series stars Taylor Schilling and and Kate Mulgrew respectively earning nods for Outstanding Lead Actress and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Our one major disappointment? That actress Uzo Aduba didn’t get any recognition for her work as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren.

The 31 total Emmy nominations this year more than doubles the number of Emmys that Netflix shows received in 2013, when House of Cards led the charge with a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series.

UPDATED: Thanks to the reader who pointed out that Uzo Aduba actually was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.
