Brief History on How the Australians Liberated Borneo During WWII [Video]

The Australians helped liberated North Borneo and pretty much the whole island of Borneo during World War II (WWII). This video will make you appreciate those who have sacrificed their lives for us.

Yesterday I posted a blog post about a video on the history of North Borneo compressed in under 6 minutes. The response was quite overwhelming because there were almost 2,000 hits coming from our Facebook page.

Although that video gives a basic overview of the history of our state, there are still plenty of details that are missing.

Of course, it’s not entirely possible to include everything into one video so the best way is to segregate our rich history into small pieces that are easy to understand, especially for the younger generations.

The liberation of Borneo from the Japanese during WWII was probably one of the most important events during the course of North Borneo’s history because that gave us the freedom we are enjoying today through the sacrifices of others.

It’s extremely important for us to know how the freedom was fought and how many lives perished during the process.

This video below provides a great history lesson to someone who is not well versed with North Borneo’s history especially during WWII.

It was uploaded to YouTube by a traveller from overlander.tv who interviewed an Australian expat based in Labuan called Mr. Peter Searle.

If you enjoyed the video please leave your comments below and if you think your family and friends would enjoy this please share it on your Facebook.

Special thanks to overlander.tv for making the video.
