Doctors star Ian Kelsey reveals why he’s leaving Letherbridge (VIDEO)

Doctors star Ian Kelsey has revealed why he’s leaving the long-running daytime drama after three years – ‘it’s time to go’.

Ian, who plays practice manager Howard Bellamy, told What’s on TV he left Emmerdale and Casualty after stints of similar duration.

Ian said: “It just gets to a certain point where it’s time to go. I never thought I’d be here so long, but it’s such a fun show to work on. Who knows what’s next? But I’m looking forward to the next acting gig, what ever it may be.”

Before he leaves in July, Ian has some tasty storylines. Ex lovers Howard and Emma are just good friends these days. Or are they? In a new storyline, the medics might possibly resurrect their romance, as part of a social experiment, 40 Days Of Dating.

“It’s an American technique of dating,” explained Ian. “You go on 40 dates and during that period you go to couple’s counselling and find out if you are compatible with each other, before you get into a relationship. They go for a cheeky weekend away in a hotel and Howard ends up pulling his groin!”

Find out what happens between Howard and Emma in Doctors from Monday, June 15 on BBC1
