Ebe Gilkes passes away

Jazz pianist Ebe Gilkes has passed away.

Cheryl Holder, secretary of the Barbados Jazz Society and Gilkes’ friend, said he passed away at St Philip District Hospital, Jezreel, St Philip on Saturday.

Musician Arturo Tappin posted a tribute to Gilkes on his Facebook page.

“You taught me to be serious about the music and how important it was for me to develop a repertoire . . . . Thank you for the opportunity. Thank you for the music. Goodbye Ebe,” Tappin said. (KG)
