Emma Bragdon, PhD. (Transpersonal Psychology)

My past in a nutshell: private practice as a psychotherapist licensed in California...12 years teaching 9 day workshops to accelerate spiritual growth...author of books on the process of spiritual awakening.   Since 1966, studied extensively with Buddhist teachers and Shamen of Native American tradition.

During the first week I   visited the sanctuary of John of God, in March, 2001, I was asked to become a guide.   I was also told that I had a particular mission--to educate people throughout the world about Brazilian Spiritism.   I wondered, "Do they say this to everybody?   What's going on here?   I didn't come with that in mind."

Sitting in the meditation room that week I was profoundly inspired--and given the energy-- to write a book about the Casa, the people who make up the staff, John of God, and diverse visitors.   I especially wanted to show what some doctors have experienced here.   I went to John of God first with the initial idea, later with the manuscript-in-process, and finally with the completed book.   Each step of the way, he blessed it.   Out of this 'collaboration' came "Spiritual Alliances: Discovering the Roots of Health at the Casa de Dom Inacio" (2002).

After I had spent three months at the Casa, I began bringing groups there in December, 2001.   I've continued to bring groups about four times a year while learning more about   Spiritism, the philosophy behind the Casa activities.

Again, in meditation at the Casa, I was inspired to write another book--this one on Spiritism. In July, 2004, out came "Kardec's Spiritism: A Home for Healing and Spiritual Evolution".   Again blessed by John of God.   Both books are for sale at the Casa, at John's request.

In July, 2003,   a philanthropist gave me seed money to produce a film on Energy Medicine.   In April, 2004, I took an award-winning production team to the Casa.   After getting some dramatic footage of John of God and the healings at the Casa, we went to other centers in Brazil.   We   now have two films we are working on: one on Energy Medicine, and another on Spiritist Centers.   We are seeking funding to complete the film production.

My healing at the the Casa has been about accepting the invitation I received when I arrived: getting clearer about my life purpose, working together with some wonderful people who share that same life purpose, and having the honor of introducing others to John of God and his work.   My life has been blessed a million times over, for which I am deeply grateful.

Johann Grobler, MD.

I did my residency in Surgery and Internal Medicine, then specialized in Psychiatry.   I also have a BA in Pschology and Philosophy.   I've been a Senior lecturer at medical school, served as a director of a large psychiatric hospital,   supervised   Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities, and been a District Surgeon.   All my life I have been an advocate of indigenous people, assisting in crisis intervention, promoting goodwill and understanding.

In 1978 I began helping Aart Juriaanse with the publication of his books.   He compiled and condensed the work of DK, the Tibetan, as channeled by Alice Bailey.   I am familiar with the world of books and publication as I began a large metaphysical bookstore in 1974 in Johannesburg, The Aquarian Bookshop.

In 1991, I retired at a young age. My last position was training nurses and doctors in psychiatric services in remote areas of South Africa.   Although I continue to treat a few individuals, I   devote my life to studying metaphysics, esoteric philosophy, and spiritual healing.

In 1993, at   an international medical congress in Pretoria, I delivered a paper entitled "Physical Death Revisited"   concerning evidence of reincarnation and the implications   for health care.   It seems to me that doctors and nurses need to embrace the real possibility that reincarnation is part of life, and death is a passing on.

2003 to present: I involve myself with writing projects on Spirituality and Spiritual Healing.   I 'm researching healing traditions in Brazil.   I especially enjoy being a   guide   for those visiting the Casa--and facilitating physicians learning more about this unconventional path of healing.   Those who understand the healing at the Casa will be able to make a special contribution to positive change in our health care systems.
