European ministers have unanimously adopted the bloc’s AI Act, which is now set to be published in the EU’s Official Journal in the coming days.

The law will take effect 20 days after publication, where compliance deadlines will be staggered — starting at six months for AI systems that pose “unacceptable risk,” up to the end of 2030 for AI components of large-scale IT systems.

In its purchase of Shiver Entertainment — which previously ported Hogwarts Legacy and Mortal Kombat 1 to the Switch — from troubled gaming conglomerate Embracer Group, Nintendo says:

By welcoming Shiver’s experienced and accomplished development team, Nintendo aims to secure high-level resources for porting and developing software titles. Going forward, even after it becomes a part of the Nintendo group, Shiver’s focus will remain the same, continuing commissions that port and develop software for multiple platforms including Nintendo Switch.

Inga from Norway’s Infinite Mobility is fitted with 160W of semi-flexible solar panels, a 594Wh battery, stepless Enviolo shifter, and 250W motor with 25km/h top speed. It can carry up 250kg (about 551 pounds).

Founder and CEO Moez Jomâa to PV Magazine:

A full day in the sun is enough to fill the battery from zero to full charge. An hour is sufficient for at least 8 km of driving... In our target markets of Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria, the battery can go many months throughout Spring and Summer without recharging from the grid.

Prototypes are being tested right now and it’s expected to go into production starting next month.

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration is seeking comment on how the US can support the development of the next generation wireless network. Although it’s a super early procedural step and it feels like we just got 5G, we could be at the halfway mark to a new generation — they tend to launch every decade, and it’s been about five years since 5G began rolling out.

At initial launch, Super Resolution will be available in a limited number of games available through the Xbox app for Windows PC: 7 Days to Die, BeamNG.drive, Borderlands 3, Control, Dark Souls III, Dying Light, The Forest, God of War, Resident Evil 2, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Skyrim SE, Sons of the Forest, Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, Unturned, Warframe, and The Witcher 3.

Is that just Microsoft putting its best foot forward, or do games need patched individually?

Native Arm64 versions of Photoshop, Lightroom, Firefly, and Express are available starting today, Adobe announced at the Surface event going on in Richmond right now. Illustrator and Premiere Pro won’t be far behind with June arrivals.

New Copilot Plus laptops and tablets with the architecture will be able to run the apps as soon as they arrive.

Instead of being stuck in Teams or another Microsoft app the new translation feature will be “available across any video calling app, any entertainment app, translated locally across the NPU.”

That’s great because in the one demo we’ve seen so far it seemed to do a very impressive job of translating everything said in real time, no human translator required.

Like many other assistants and AI devices plugged into OpenAI’s latest LLM, Microsoft just announced at today’s Surface event that Copilot will soon be plugged into GPT-4o (and powered by new Surface Plus PCs). They demonstrated the integration by showing Copilot guide a player through Minecraft, using GPT-4o to see and react to what was happening onscreen.

New York Attorney General Leticia James announced the state settled with Genesis, which it sued in October 2023, along with the crypto trading firm Gemini, owned by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss. Genesis, one of the largest lenders to FTX, filed for bankruptcy in January last year.

James’ office reached a $1.1 billion settlement with Gemini in February.
