Introduction

The Refectory Restaurant and Coffee Shop offers one of the three Benedictine principles - hospitality.

A place to welcome all visitors

This award-winning building offers a welcoming place to enjoy tea and coffee, eat a hot lunch or just grab a quick sandwich. Some visitors come to the Refectory after going round the Cathedral and enjoy being able to reflect on their visit in a relaxing atmosphere. Some come without visiting the Cathedral but simply to meet friends and colleagues and enjoy delicious food which has been freshly cooked in a stunning setting.

Delicious food, freshly cooked and ethical!

Whatever the reason for your visit you can be sure that everything will be freshly cooked and very tasty. We support local suppliers and traders by buying locally sourced, and seasonal, produce. When we cannot buy items locally, we are committed to ensuring that they are fair-traded or sourced from ethical producers.

A memorable venue for private parties and corporate events

The Refectory is available for corporate and private hire to entertain clients, staff, friends and family. Find out more.

Special rates for daytime groups

We can arrange special rates for daytime groups of ten or more who pre-order their food choices. Contact our Enterprises Manager (01603 218322) to discuss your needs.

Eat, drink and support the Cathedral

A well as enjoying the delicious food, you will be pleased to know that all profits go to the upkeep of the Cathedral and its work. So please have that extra slice of cake.

A big thank you

We know how lucky we are to have such a talented and dedicated team in the Refectory. We are grateful not only to our hard-working staff but also to the many volunteers and students from City College who work alongside them. Without their valuable help the Refectory could not offer you the same welcome.
